XD Pistol Good Choice?

I just bought the new XD pistol,.45 ACP 5'. Was this a good choice for my first handgun?

  But ya, i have been saying that we need to go to willy's soon to go shootin'. i miss shooting chloe (the Garand). But we did find that new range![:D]
