I've been thinking.
I think this does not belong on the political forum. It's not about the what the theory is. It is about theories.
So this South Dakota Senator had a stroke. He is currently in the hospital. Senator Harry Reid says Johnson is doing fine.
Suppose Harry Reid is lying. Suppose the Senator is brain dead. Suppose Reid desires to keep Johnson alive just to keep control of the Senate. Suddenly all life is sacred.
Has anyone seen Senator Johnson? Has the press been told of his condition beyond generic nondescript terms?
How many days has it been since the real Senator Johnson has been seen? If this was Fidel Castro the press would be asking these questions.
If Senator Johnson does make a public appearance, how do we know it is the real Johnson or a double?
With the control of the Senate in balance would the DNC go this far or should I be asking how much farther will they go?
Now, I here is my REAL question. I am not interested in the validity of this theory. I am more curious how long it takes for such theories to gain momentum.
How long until this is discussed by the mainstream media OR Rush Limbaugh? To a theorist, it is possible to connect the dots. TO a theorist this is logical. When is it going to go public?0 -

Our modernized military. With all these Unmanned Armed military vehicles, aircraft, and satellites......imagine if a kid hacker or China got control of them and used our own weapons against us......would the US Govt. tell you?

Think about it for a moment...
Our government can't even purchase a hammer at a decent price. We've got a bunch of elected clowns who can't add or subtract... Much less understand such nebulous concepts as spending within the limits of income. We have government employees who seem to "misplace" computers with sensitive data... And nothing is really done about it.
This would be the government of conspiracy? This is a government which could keep a secret? This is a collective bunch of brainpower that could cook up such a scheme in the first place?
I sincerely doubt it! Not unless there was a campaign contribution or illegal kickback involved somewhere. Even then not highly likely as we seem destined to elect and appoint ego mostly to the exclusion of brains.0 -

Given that the neocons were looking for a new Pearl Harbor, it wouldn't surprise me if those in a position to see the big picture simply closed their eyes. 0 -
...NO! Just taken into account the sheer number of people that would have had to be involved in something of this magnitude; the planning of 9/11 would not have got off the ground before the WORLD would have known about it. The conspiracy people AVOID the facts, must be liberals...[;)]

I hate to admit it but this is what I fear also and it wouldn't surprise me a bit. I highly doubt the whole thing was dreamed up by the government but people are being paid a lot of money to keep tabs on these a-holes. Did somebody know in advance and look the other way?
At BEST there was pure laziness and stupidity on the government's part. At worst, somebody turned a blind eye. We'll probably never know which unless somebody admits to something on their death bed.0 -

Most conspiracy theories, including those regarding the secret societies that run the world are promulgated out of impotence of spirit.
Life is easier for some to simply acquiesce to the recited wishes of a deity.
Life is more tolerable for some if it is out of their control.
One allows of absolution of sin and the other allows for absolution of responsibility.
Facts is facts. The attacks on September 11th, 2001 were successful because a groups of Arabs correctly assumed that the average American male was too much of a coward to fight back. On the two flights in the WTC and the one into the Pentagon, American males sat back as watched women being killed before their eyes. They did nothing. Only when it was known that they were going to die anyway did the passengers on flight 93 fight back. It is good they did eventually fight back, but they were doing it to preserve their own lives.
For example: You are told that if you don't fight back you will be killed. It is then heroic to fight back? No, it is not heroic, it is normal.0 -

Some folks believe and others don't. I don't! I tend to believe that you're spending way too much time looking where there's little to see. Our government is arguably inept at most of its endeavors. Thankfully so I might add.
If, on the other hand, you're speaking of big business, then there is certainly something to see. Business has a way of being apolitical. That's the nature of the beast.
The fact is simply that as long as mankind doesn't wipe himself off the face of this earth there will be winners and losers in global governments. Just as in WW2, big business will be invested on both sides to assure survival. I doubt it's preplanned. More likely it's instinctual.
Which brings me to point... Big business offers our radical Muslim friends very little. They, in turn, offer big business almost nothing. Not in the long run anyway. Imagine trying to run a profitable business under strict Islamic law. Nearly impossible!
No matter your thoughts on China, Russia, India, or Pakistan, it's not in the best interest of the world economy to allow these clowns to muck everything up. After all, a good portion of what business produces would be summarily banned under Islamic law.
I'll count on big business to purchase a political solution as time and circumstances dictate. It's in their best interest. Maybe ours too!
As to 9/11... While terror is good for business, the boys that carried out and planned these attacks were in the wild crowd. Fundamentalists are dangerous because they have strong beliefs and values. Not a good thing to have this type out there when one is trying to make a profit.
Hired guns are one thing, but inspired guns can't be allowed. And they won't be past a certain point.0 -

I can't speak for India and Pakistan, and not so much for China, but Russia does sincerely wish for destruction of the United States. Heck, a butt load of Russian immigrants living in the US despise everything American. I think they, Russia and China, are stupid and arrogant enough to think that they wouldn't be so much affected if our economy experiences a crisis or seized.0 -

It is a little deeper than that. The point was that some look to conspiracy as an excuse. This removes the responsibility of working for a political candidate or ideal, as the end game is already known, etc.

You missed the point. That reference was specifically stated about the men that sat back on the planes that hit the WTC and the Pentagon. They chose to die sitting. They were cowards. They were representative of the average American male.
I like to think I would have done something, and actually think I would have. I do not know that for a fact, however, and no one else here does either. The conspiracy theory puts a bit of salve on the wounded pride we all should feel that we had become such a soft and spineless society that we allowed this to happen.

You've both missed the point. Political entities can hate each other and wish each other gone. They can even fight each other and try to eliminate the other. Nothing new or different than it's always been.
Business, on the other hand, has a vested interest in seeing that both winner and loser survive. Witness Japan and Germany after WW2. The average Arab or Russian businessperson (legal or illegal) may wish to vanquish all others, but neither is stupid enough to allow his greed or ego to destroy a customer base. Same with any somewhat sane individual. To vanquish is one thing, to destroy is totally another.
Radical Islamists are a different sort. They're dangerous to governments and they're dangerous to business... Not to mention the danger they represent to the average human on the street. They look for a heavenly reward and eschew worldly goods. How do you possibly sell sex to a guy who's been promised a bevy of virgins in exchange for his worthless life? You can't! Neither can the Russians and neither can the Chinese and neither can we. He's not going to be a buyer.
This is a problem. It's a real conundrum for rational governments and also one for businesspeople. Mind you, whether it be the Russian Mafia or the Chinese army, these guys are in business and they're not stupid. Profit is first and the mode of government is relatively unimportant as long as it doesn't interfere too much with business as usual. Fact is, some forms of government are easier to work with (or around) than others.
So... Most government officials are in for the power and money of office. Take away the money and there would be little power. Stifle or kill business and one guarantees no money to government. Any government! Anywhere!
Nope! Sooner or later business will cause the destruction of these radicals. That, or the radicals will destroy business. And I don't see it happening.0 -

My interests have nothing to do with this. I don't speak as a "true capitalist", I merely observe and conclude. Then I summarize. The History Channel has entirely too much time on its hands and is sometimes in left field with its pronouncements.
Let's take Russia as an example here. Our governments may not like each other and nationalism may fire friction between our two states, but we and the Russians share many common beliefs and traits. I've been there and the average man on the street would like nothing more than to be comfortable and live in peace.
Japan... The lost the battle in 1945, but the war may not be over. Good or bad? I haven't a clue. This time the battle is financial.
China... Modified capitalism run by largely government or military officials. Still a form of that nasty old capitalism.
But radical Islam? They wish for the 7th century. They mean to impose it upon the world in general. In the short term our governments may use the movement to gain political traction, but in the end will have to agree to either eliminate this threat or bow down to it.
And the pursuit of profit and power won't allow for such. If this is conspiracy, then so be it. I call it practicality... Just business.0 -
The history channel piece was very biased against the conspiracy theories.
Example:
They would show "conspiracy theory". They would have an expert, for example physicist Steven Jones who has analyzed pieces of spherical blobs of metal found at greound zero, which were previously molten steel which showed the telltale signs of being melted with thermate.
Then they would say "Expert explanation", and without fail the "expert" would debunk what the "theorist" had said.
Framing it like that is very biased, and anyone who thinks this is anything but a hit piece on 9/11 theories is not seeing it for what it is.0 -

It is hard to believe, but our government, mainly through the cia has done it in the past, and it is admitted in their own documents.
Take a look at this video.. Now brace yourself, Alex Jones comes off full force and can be a little bit offputting if you aren't familiar with his style. Stick with it, and he details how our government has a long history of staging terror against innocent civilaians for the advancement of their agenda.
