for a hand gun...particularly a 1911?

I'm pretty rough on my carry weapons. The Southern climate doesn't exactly lend corrosion resistance to any material, but stainless is the obvious choice and scratches buff out easily. Try that on blue. 0 -

Blued. No light flash off the gun when drawn, but then again if the gun is drawn, someone going to get shot.

20 blued 15 Stainless...somewhat subjective. Since I would not carry a full sized 1911, I'm going to figure this one as a shooter and not a carry gun. 0 -

400 series SS is rust resistant (compared to carbon steel) but not rust proof. It also isn't as good as the 300 series when it comes to rust. From an appearance stance I prefer a good blue but if I consider wear from use, bluing is damaged and SS maintains it's appearance (although a matte finish will have polished wear marks). 0 -

...If for carry, hard chrome is more durable than SS or blue as for not showing holster wear and such. I have hard chrome, blue, parked and blued...love 'em all...the parked maybe my least favorite finish, or for sure the ugliest...but not as ugly as the God awful wannabe plastic guns...wouldn't own one...real guns are made of steel, not plastic...[;)]
...No gun rusts, it's the lack of care given to them from their lazy azz owners. Use a good oil, and Flitz gun wax and the gun wont rust if it lives in the rain forest...[;)]0 -
How many respondents live in the real world and actually carry a concealed firearm on a daily basis? In a perfect world, A high polish blued and engraved PPK would be what I would carry, but alas, in the real world, it's not feasible. 0 -

I personally prefer blued, but I can't carry all the time becuase I live in WI.[V] If I could carry I may have a different opinion because of the constant abuse it would take from cold, heat, and other elements.
