Ok Math experts I need a problem solved
Been in the sun and My Grand Sport won't load on my new trailer[:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!] Spoiler is hitting [:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!]
trailer is 16" off ground at rear. Car has a 3" clearance off ground for spoiler
Distance from Spoiler to Center of front tire is 26".
How long of ramps do I need so they will clear the spoiler and load the car?

The answer to your problem is simple.....
I'll drive down and get the car, you'll never have to worry about loading it again.0 -
My other Corvette fits fine. The trailer has 5' ramps. It won't even get close before the spoiler hits. The angle has to be very minute so the **** ramps have to be long. I appreciate your offer.. What kind of boot are you offering with your new bike? [:o)][:o)] 0 -
[8D]--Standard ramps and just BACK the car on the trailer !!!
----[:D][:D]--JIMBO0 -
I tried loading it on backwards.. same result, spoiler will drag. This car is 3" off the ground in the front. 0 -
Park the truck and ramp on a steep-enough incline to give you a straight shot between the ramp and the trailer. 0 -
What diameter is the tire? 0 -

That's what I was thinking. A perfectly positioned ditch bank works.0 -

yeah it works but will you have a ditch where your going to get it off lolololol[:D][:D]0 -
He can worry about that when the times comes.[:D] 0 -

[:D][:D][:D] Like I am going to take a chance loading or unloading in a ditch with my Car.0 -
16'
You 26" from center of front tire to ground effects, and 3" clearance of ground effects, a one inch rise in 1 foot gives you two inches at two feet (giving you a one in grace at ground effects), so a 1" in 1' rise takes 16" to get the car up 16 inches. You can do it a bit shorter but not much.0 -
[8D]--You could, using the forward port/stbd jacking points on the vette-jack up each side and SLIDE the ramps under the front wheels, then attatch to the notch's on the trailer--
--Don't forget to block the back wheels--
--[:o)][:D]--JIMBO0 -
(tan x)=3/26 = 6.5 deg
(sin 6.5) = .1132
.1132 = 16/H
H=141.35
141.34/12 = 11.78 feet~12 feet0 -
I get twelve feet.
Triangle from wheel center to front of car and bottom of spoiler is 3" tall and 26" long. Arctan(3/26) gives the angle between the road and the ramp as 6.5819 degrees. (1/sin(6.5819)/16 comes to just short of 12 feet. And that gives you ALMOST NO grace. I'd split the distance between me and HeDog and go with 14-foot ramps.0 -
I laid out both 5' ramps from the trailer and it still looked short. Wonderfull, going to have to make up some sort of block with a pinning system, to attach the second ramp to. This is screwed up. Trailer has a 3" drop axle and sits close to the ground. Any suggestions?

Jack up the tongue of the trailer about 6 inches while it is attached to the haul vehicle. The reduced angle of approach will make it easy to load. 0 -
Yep.
Heres some advice - NAIL IT. Youll get it one way another... to get it down? well what goes up must come down right? [:D][:D][:D]
Or send it to cubs, he can drive and ill keep it spoofed up, looks like you need some new tires buddy, can i intrest you in a set of racing slicks?0 -

Tried that too.. Maybe hook up some straps to a helicoptor and set it on the trailer.[:0] Going to have to do something to move the car without driving it.0 -
If you have at least two jack stands and maybe two large wheeled floor jacks and are adventurous, you could try having the car one pair of jack stands nearest the trailer and backing the trailer as close to the car as possible. Put the ramps under the wheels nears the trailer so the ramps extend under the wheels with a block to make the ramp almost level. Remove the front jack stands and lower the nearest wheels onto the ramps. Slowly push the car using the floor jacks upon the trailer until the wheels are on the trailer proper. Once the rear wheels are over the ramps you could lower the floor jacks and drive the rest of the way on to the trailer. Seems like a lot of trouble and requires three people and equipment. Good luck and post please post pictures of your selected solution. 0 -
If you have access to an air compressor at both ends of your trip, you could always deflate the tires on your trailer when you load/unload. 0 -
I have done some/all the above to load a vehicle.
I used a forklift to raise the front of the trailer, adding blocks to the ramps, used a floor jack to raise ramps once front/rear tires on ramp.
I finally got rid of all vehicles that will not drive directly onto the trailer.
Problem solved. Besides I don't fit into those low slung vehicles anymore.0 -
Try backing it up the ramp. 0 -

Won't work Danny, he tried that.0 -
Get some 2x12's and use them 0 -

Are you kidding? I have thought all day how this is going to be done.. I didn't buy a tilt bed trailer for this same reason. They would not get low enough. Now a rollback truck will load them..0 -

Dunno, thats juts what mom told me to tell you haha0 -
Select, actually Jason does have the right answer. If you get 16 foot 2x12s and support under them every couple of feet with 2x4s to achieve your desired angle it would be no problem to drive the car right onto or off the trailer. You would not need your existing ramps as you can construct the wooden ramps to butt right up to the back of the trailer. Believe me, 2x12s with supports under them every two feet will hold the car. 0 -
Dig a couple of holes that are sloped toward the front where you can back the trailer into. Load the car up and pull out of the sloped holes. From your prior posts, I believe that you already have the equipment to do this.
To unload, simply do the old table cloth trick. Rev the truck to 4,000 rpm's and pop the clutch. Yank that trailer right out from under the car.[:D][:D]0 -

First of all how are the 2x12's going to attach to the trailer. Might go on bowing the boards but car could kick out the boards on the way off. And how are the 2x12's and supports going with me. Remember the car will be unloaded away from home. Kind of also looks hillbilly style unloading a nice car with boards. I have seen this at auctions,, I have also seen boards bust and cars fall. Not pretty.0 -
Select, no offense meant here so please don't take as that. I do understand that it would look hillbilly style with the boards, but I thought the intent was to get the car loaded, not appearance. Also, if getting the boards along with you is going to be an issue is it not also going to be an issue to get the metal ramps of required length there? As for attaching to the trailer since you don't like the idea it really is kind of moot, but you could have bolted angled plates to the top ends of the boards, thus attaching just as your short ramps did. Do keep in mind that metal ramps that long are also going to do plenty of bowing. 0
