15 yr old girls day of crap must be national event
Mine has been giving me little doses of mess all year long....no report card....her new "boyfriend" has a HICKEY....find she is failing algebra and HAS to make good on a test to pass....search and find three warnings that she can't get to 6th period class on time and has detention tuesday because of that....she has 5 days of in school suspention for skipping snack time and running into the boys bathroom (there is a 17 minute long VIDEO of her hanging out outside this boys bathroom and getting up the nerve to run in and run right back out.) Then she is so VERY smart that she writes her name on the wall of the ISS room and then has to paint the room.
Then today......
I had let her get off the bus with her best friend because I really like this girl and her father....I arrived yesturday to pick her up after work and they all start begging for her to spend the night. The dad is there and I agree to let her stay. I said I would be there in the morning to get her.
I leave for work...and ask my husband to go get her...do you THINK they are there...NOOOOOO. Turns out that the girls had some bright idea to call MY MOTHER (who I love dearly) and they go "out" together. It took us TWO HOURS to find them and we were all furious. The other girl's father had something work related to do and had left at 3 am....he got home at 11:00 am and joined in on the frustrating search for the two of them.
I told my husband....just wait....this is a neverending road of crap ahead. She isn't 17 (which is when I was completely out of control) and it isn't BIG things....just a neverending thing after thing after thing......
I think she will make a great wholesale catalog editor one day.

I'll have to agree on getting her a cell phone,,my youngest boy and the only one I have left at home is 15,,he has a cell,,if I call he better answer,,if he is at the movies he knows to turn it to viberate,,if I call he has 10 minutes to go out to the lobby and call me back,,we have a deal,,if he is off with his football buddys and the driver is drinking or there is just trouble call me and I will pick him up no questions,,he does not leave home without his phone,,,you were worried about her using a phone to make plans behind your back,,if thats what she wants to do not having a cell phone is not going to stop her,,does she have a computer and internet ???she could make the same plans using it just as easy...I think cell phones with ground rules are a good thing 0 -
You could always pull the battery when you don't want her to use it.
The other thing we did, was to get the $9.95 emergency plan from the provider for her. If she used it at all, she had to pay 0.34 per minute, and earn the money herself. If it was us calling her she didn't have to pay, and if it was a real emergency she didn't have to.

Ive got a cellphone. I dont do stupid stuff with it, But if i was- mom would be checking that "last called" thingy and i know for SURE i wouldnt be allowed to do that anymore.
Dont they make a phone now where you can track who they are calling online? Get her one of those, LF0 -

Just be careful of the tag " she really is a good girl though",............that is the same line the mother of this 13 year old used after being charged with 128 felonies.

"He is a good boy,.....he just fell in with the wrong crowd"
Something is very wrong with children today, and a lot of times, I believe it is the parents,..........not necessarily referring to you, but I believe it is true. I had to walk a certain line, and if I swayed,....I paid! Parents today are too busy trying to be their childrens "friend", they don't need another friend, they need authority, and an acceptance of such. Good Luck.0 -

Call me old fashioned, but I don't think leaving your daughter for a sleepover in the home of a "single" dad is a good idea, even if his daughter is supposed to be there. 0 -

1. There IS life after teenagers
2. I took Algebra 1 three times. Not fatal
3. Keep repeating "Because I'm the Mommy, dammit!" as needed.
4. Don't let up
5. Good luck!0 -
Hate to say it, but it always seems 15-16 year olds come full circle with parents. I was one of them 35 years ago, hated the lessons taught in life during that time but thankful to my Mom and (Dad who is now passed) for the disciplines and correction handed out to me. 0 -

for what reason ? you think he is going to try something with the daughter ? i dont think a "married" father would be any safer.0
