The family guns

I am thinking about selling off my dad and moms shotguns. We had a hunting camp in Mexico when I was a kid. Mom had a double barrel 16 GA. Savage.
Dad's is a Remington Sportman's 12GA.
I also have an antique Albert Greener double barrel, lots of engraving. It's very pretty, but it's been in my safe for over 20 years. Would the auction be the best place to list them? Or should I go to a gun shop?
I'll never use these guns anymore, I'll keep mine to use, but the others are just sitting here.

    Well, I took your guys advice and took that Greener to Gunslingers today for a shipping box. They want that shotgun, so I will wait for the owner to come back next week. Maybe he'll want it and save me the shipping cost to the UK.
    Lets see if I can post a photo here of my pop...
    This was taken in Mexico, probably 1964ish. Dad is on the left side, (they called him Gordo). In the middle is Papa Loya, owner of the ranch where we camped and his son Mario is on the right. I just found Mario last year, after losing track of him for 34 years. He and his family are living up in Salinas and doing well. Papa Loya died at 98 years old. I had gone back to the old ranch in Baja looking for the Loyas. There are no maps for where we lived, but I thought I could find it. After driving around for an hour I did finally find the place, only to find everything gone. The ranch houses, all the trailers, everything was completely gone. Just quail everywhere. It was nice actually, it's still pretty. I was afraid there would be a Starbucks sitting there. But Mexico has not changed.
    Dad didn't shoot that cow, by the way.
    Well,...at least I don't think he did. Hmmmmm. Not really sure about that.

    Here's the thing...we have so many shotguns. They smuggled them down to the ranch for hunting season, then back again. It's not like we are selling all the guns off. I open that safe and they are stacked in there like sardines. I have 3, Ken has 2, I have my moms, my dads and the Greener. Then there are the rifles too. My sister has another of my dads shotguns in Washington.
    I only like to shoot my shotgun, so I won't use dads and my moms Savage about took my arm off the one time I shot it. ( no WONDER she hit everything she aim at!)
    I think things are to be enjoyed, not locked away. We're all going to die and leave our stuff behind. I don't get to keep it either, it's just on loan.

    Guns are a tool to her and her parents, nothing more. The memories of bygone days are etched into the gray matter. As she has pointed out, she and her parents would rather see somebody make use of these guns than have them sit in a safe and rot.

    Well...we have a saying, "There's always another ass for the saddle."
    I'd rather see the saddle's in the arena than sitting covered up in the livingroom. She can sell my stuff, because it will be HERS. Unless I sell it first, that is, while it's still MINE. That's how it works.
