I've not been stung by hornet, but my son was..right between the eyes. His head swelled up like a basketball. Of all the things i have been stung by red wasps hurt me the worst.

If you don't disturb them, they will not get mad at you. Course it's no fun to leave them alone.[:)]

    Yellow Jackets.

Blood trailing a bowshot doe in SC at night. We were using flashlights and it was hot. Took off my long-sleeve shirt and sat down on a stump to take a drink of Gatorade. Little did I know that the little bastages had a nest in the base of the stump. Got stung 3 times on the calf, 5 on the arms, and one on the neck. Worst feeling in the world. Was sick to my stomach for 2 days and sore at the sting sites for a week.

those red wasp in Missouri sting like getting hit with a 2x4

    i got a good/funny story though

a few of us went hiking once when i was young and in great shape, i went of the path to look over a cliff, my brother in law followed me, as he was pushing back a branch to make it where i was he said" hey i think you just went through a hornets nest", at the same time i heard my golden retriever yelp, my cousin, and a friend scream, i hit full speed running down the trail, my dog in tow, everyone followed but did not do very well in keeping up, by time everyone made it to the end they had been stung at least 9 times, my cousin 20, we think the dog got it several by each yelp, and i got 0

I had a spider bite on my lower back when I was a teenager that was like no other bite.
It was one of those 100 degree days and I was crashed out on top of my bed with no shirt on.

In my half asleep state I felt something crawling on my back so I sort of swated at it with my hand and that is when it sunk its teeth into my.
I jumped up and tore the bed apart looking for it and never could find it.
It turned into a giant white bump with a reddish circle about 2 inches diameter.
the white spot about the size of a pee finally rotted out and left a little hole but eventually healed.

Bee stings never hurt or reacted like whatever type spider that was that bit me that day.

Only been stung once. Was very young and catching bees in jars with friends. The stupid things kids do.

We were hot on the trail of a nice fat one, when it flies at me and lands in my ear. By reaction I slapped at my ear, actually blocking it in. Then it stung me in the ear canal.

That one sting was enough for me to leave them alone ever since.

Worst was years back when I was manually driving T-posts in the foothills of N.California. In the summer the ground drys and cracks. I'm not sure if they are hornets or yellow jackets, but they nest in the cracks and they were really pissed that I was banging on the ground. I was wearing a large loose fitting shirt and a unknown number flew under the shirt and started stinging. I had over twenty stings and was black and blue for weeks.

I accidentally got myself too close to a hornets nest, the nest was underneath a deck railing on a set of stairs leading to a boat dock. I got swarmed and stung twenty some times in the head, shoulders, and back. If i hadnt jumped in the water it could have been worse....by far, the most painful sting Ive experienced.

I found a bubble bees nest in one of our sheds when I was younger, 10-13 or so. I don't think i have ever ran so fast in my life. [:D] I had something like 10 stings on my back and shoulders, mostly my shoulders. I think I got lucky the nest was rather small.

A couple of years later I found another large bubble bee's nest in a large air filter for the 4 wheel drive case. I got lucky in that case, cause I was going to install it on the tractor when I went to pick it up I heard hmmm noises. Then flipped it over to see what must have been 100 pissed off bees. I didn't get stung then, luckly. I ruined that filter with as much WD 40 as I could. It was the closest thing I had near me in a 1 gallon jug. Once my dad and I got them all killed we tried to clean it out, there was more bees in that filter then I have ever seen in my life.

I have found plenty of hornet, wasp, yellow jacket, and bees nest growing up on a farm. The one nest that I never found though was a honey bee nest. I never really got stung to often though. Hornets hurt, yellow jackets though hurt like hell and are mean mean creatures.

I got bit by something on the beach one time while walking. it bit or stung my big toe and for 3 hours it literally felt like someone was holding a lighter under my toe, it was ON FIRE. We dont have fire ants around here, or so I have been told, so I dont know what it was. Some terrible pain for 3 hours though.

My son was stung by a bee on the bottom of his foot on Tuesday. I'm pretty sure it was a bee rather than a wasp, hornet, or yellow jacket because it left the stinger. Scraped out the stinger and applied ice and a wet, crushed aspirin. Foot puffed up so bad he could barely get a sneaker on.
By Friday, he still had a really itchy 1 1/2-2 inch welt on the bottom of his foot.
Called his doctor, who said not to worry too much, as it does not necessarilly indicate any sort of allergic reaction. Apparently the nerve endings at the sole are such that a reaction of this sort from a beesting at this location is not uncommon, just Benadryl him for the itch and watch him, in case he needs an antibiotic or a steroid.

...It would be easier to try and think what hasn't stung me. A tree Asp to move so slow, hurts like hell on your neck.

...I guess the worst maybe because of the area stung, a Portuguese Man-Of-War; now they samrt!

...He he, friend of mine grew up in West texas. He hung his jeans over the railing of the front porch at night, and would wear them two days. At daylight one morning he pulled his jeans up and BAM, lightening hit him right behind his nads [:D]. Scorpion got him twice before he could rip the jeans off...[8D]

Was bit by a brown recluse back in college when I lived in the dorms @ SWT St. Was on crutches for about a week chewing on antibodies and waiting for the bite to subside. Hurt like hell.

When I was nine years old (before we landed on the moon ...lol) I was with my parents on a camping trip. I was drinking "Pepsi" from a can and had sat the can down unattended for a few minutes. I came back, tilded it up and took a swig. Little did i know that 2 yellow jackets had got in the can under the lip.

They both stung me in side the mouth!

I managed to kill one by chewing him up (lol) Hurt like a sumbi__h !
Swelled up and I was in pain for a couple days. That was 40 years ago and I remember it like yesterday !

To this day .... I drink from bottles only !

Unknown source, but I ended up with 3 or 4 tennis ball sized welts on my calves. Hurt like the dickens, hot to the touch, and made it hard to walk. About 7 years ago, IIRC.

Yep, i can remember the honey bees in a can of soda. Felt em in my mouth and spit em out before getting stung.

When riding the bike once, i saw a wasp or something coming at me, and actually saw him turn a few feet from my face...dunno if he was turning to go the other direction, or assuming position to sting... Splat off the forehead.lol

Another time me and another guy were riding and was riding kind of nuts, alot of high speed, etc. One time he went flying by and as soon as he got by he went to skiddin/swirving all over the place, then pulled down off a not so safe embankment at a high rate of speed, threw his bike down and went to slinging his helmet off. Seems some kind of stinging creature had gotten in his full face helmet with him.[:D][:D][:D]

When I was five years old, I was attacked by a nest full of what my granparents called "guinea wasps." They got me nine times before I got away. I was swelled up real pretty for a while.

That may be the wrong name, but the guinea wasp is small, yellow-and-brown striped, and very aggressive/protective around their nest. Nest is an open paper arrangement.
