The final fight in We Were Soldiers, that music really set it off and I was in a daze with goose bumps after it was over.

Open Range was a very good one. A lot more realistic than most.

I doubt very many of you have seen it but Devil's Rejects has a shootout scene with 2 S&W K frames and a Autoloader 12 gauge, and the shootout is to Lynyrd Skynyrd's Freebird. It is excellent.

+10....actually seeing actors doing (proper) tactical reloads, holding the gun between their knees to reload after loosing use of an arm...excellent movie. I laughed my butt off though when Phillippe's character dove into that fountain though.

"Shane" even though Jack bought it....
Okay, so sue me for a little nepotism....

The Ginral has it right...it has to be Tom Selleck in Quigley! He actually trained for that movie with Mike V., and Hank Williams Jr. at Hank's ranch.

I like several of the movies already listed, but you probably need to add the final portions of "Zulu" to the list.

Amazed no one mentioned "Once Upon a Time in the West", with Charles Bronson and Henry Fonda.

    Great music too.

[8D]I watched OPEN RANGE again last night after, at leaast a year and I will agree with the guys that chose it earlier--

--Probably the BEST western shootout ever made, man it was tremendous--

Can't say much for the rest of the film, but when The Duke takes the reins in his teeth and says "Fill your hand, you SOB" in True Grit, I get all goose pimply.

Gotta love Ned Pepper's challenge: "I call that bold talk for a one eyed fat man."

    Nobody disses The Duke.

There are a lot of good choices. I think the last shootout of "Saving Private Ryan" is the best.

Heat was really good through the whole thing, but....

I'm going to put my vote in for Enemy At The Gates. That final battle was tense!

    meunke,

Saving Private Ryan was white knuckle for me. I could only imagine what they were going through in those first 1000 yds of hell. Waaaay to real to walk away calm from. Some of the Band of brother footage will tell how scary that is.

Blackhawk Down...again waaaaay too real with the surround sound and the blackhawks winding up full throttle for takeoff. All I needed was the smell of some JP4 and I was back... Tears of the Sun was good as well.

For entertainment; The end of Butch and Sundance, Young guns I and II. both had good stuff the Wild Bunch, Good, Bad, and the Ugly, For a Few Dollars More, Zulu Dawn with Michael Caine. Best strafe is is in Empire of the Sun when the P-51D's roll in and HAMMER the airfield...and the kid is on one of the POW towers jumping and waving to them. Where Eagles Dare just for entertainment.
