My only problem is that Zumbo made a comment without thinking what repercutions it might have.
A person that had the pull he had should have thought about this before makeing the comments he did as he should have known that the Anti crowd would use those words against all of us.
But you are right about pulling together against the Anti crowd! If we would all stand up we could get some results!
The problem is less than 50% of the gun owners would stand up, and that is SAD![:(]0 -
I will stand shoulder to shoulder with ANYBODY that understands that the Second Amendment prevents the Federal Government from making, passing, or enforcing ANY GUN LAWS OF ANY SORT.
There is very little authority for the States to pass gun laws.
That, friend, is the meaning of the Second Amendment.
Now...do you want to come over to the Constitution ?
I cannot support anybody that believes in gun laws..so I am sorry for those that aid and abet "Nancy Pilosi, John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, or maybe even Sarah Brady..." as YOU do if you support waiting periods/registration/NICS checks..or whatever YOUR pet anti-gun law is0 -

They're still talking about it on AM radio, DJ's trying to talk like zumbo[:D]
I respect his right to voice his opinion... but we are at War and our Enemies seek to disarm us, & if you think about it there really is no such thing as a civilian. If you are an American, You are at war, you pay for all the bombs and lasers, you pay the salaries of the fighting men... but who knows, tommorow the war could be at your doorstep! I'm prepared... are you?0 -

The FACT that we live under Federal and State tyranny has absolutely no bearing upon the TRUTH.
Now...we the citizens CANNOT fight on ANY level...unless we understand exactly where we should be going...back towards freedom.
Yes..we live under the bootheel of men with guns that are prepared to kill us for exercising our God Given Rights...that is no excuse for mentaly ignoring the position we should ALL aspire to...the freedom of the Second Amendment.
Meekly bowing our heads and accepting the lash doesn't make one a man...merely a subject.0 -
zumbo's name needs to be added to the list for the comment he made! 0 -
Politicians only care about power and free perks, not about the average American. They will say and do anything to get re-elected, period. Maybe you can get their careers destroyed, but being the realist that I am, there will be more of those asshats to come out of the woodwork to take their place. 0 -

No.
Zumbo was an easy target. His sponsors rely on us, thus we were able to influence them.
The Socialist/Communist politicos (both sides of the political fence) have no such vulnerabilities and are essentially untouchable by the gunner crowd.
Face it, the American populace is composed of a bunch of idiots, in large part.
We gunners can squawk and holler (if you can get anyone off their dead ass to do even that), but the voting public is far, far too gone to ever bring us back to a Constitutional Govt.
We gunners are a distinct minority who needs to become very, very vocal and adopt a zero compromise stance on any gun issue. Then and only then may we place the enemies of America in a position of great caution and in fear of acting.0 -

Well we are kinda between a rock and a hard place here in Ohio as most of the stinking Republicans are anti gun too... we had to replace Anti gun Dewine and Taft with anti-gun Dems just to send a message. Taft could't get elected dog catcher in Ohio and Dewine had better get on the progun band wagon or move to NY if he wants to work again... But the poster is right we need to clean house and do it now.. I don't care if they are Republican if thy are Anti-gun they are way to stupid to be in office. 0 -

Thank God there is a few men like you out there.
I far prefer ten like you then a million cowards, compromising yours and my Rights away...all the time telling us all they do for us.
Stay hard. That is the last hope for America.0 -

I absolutely agree. We are in the midst of culture war on America and anything American, and if we loose, frankly the entire world will lose. Then the whiny surrender monkey's of the world won't have anyone to call when the despots are on their doorstep.
I have NEVER meekly stood by and let my state's despots run amok. I have always done my share, I have always voted on the side of the 2nd amendment above all else, and I am a life member of the NRA among other organizations that fight to ensure my continued right to keep and bear arms.
The laws that have passed and will pass in my home state of Massachusetts did not get passed with my help or support. In fact, I have bee a very vocal enemy of any such legislation and have always done my part to voice the truth and educate the people. Yet, these laws keep getting passed. I would also submit to you that in your state things are very much the same way! I truly do not believe any of the representatives to my state or federal legislature truly represent me... I do what I can and I do all I can. That's why I am here...0 -

It WAS like that, but it is no longer. It is intellectually dishonest to continue down the path of his destruction with excuses like this, when he has come forward, apologized, and will (as least has stated his intentions to) strive to right the wrongs he has committed and turn around others that may think like he did. We did our job, now we must support him (and keep an eye on him making sure he follows thru with his intent) in his future endeavors that will continue his 40+ year career of Hunting and Firearms service!
You would have me believe the foolish disposition that we are to ignore and repudiate a man who may yet be one of our best leaders (particularly because he has gone thru this) in the fight for the cause and for our side due to a past indiscretion, ignorance, and poorly derived/reasoned position/opinion...
Not very smart.0 -

Uuummm, He is pushing 60 or better and has been hunting for 50 years. You sir are uniformed! Are you thus purposely, or just pretending to be???
He has done 1 disservice in 40+ years at his career or the many thousands of services he has performed for us, and the many many more he has the opportunity to continue to perform for us. Continuing to finalize his destructyion is so intellectually challenged as to not see the good he has done and will do! Can people be so blind to reason and fact (an intended fact of redirected and refocused efforts on a righteous path) as to allow oneself to be prejudiced by biases derived of anger and resentment that one can't see the forest for the trees?
I would submit that attitude (and there are many who would toss him aside as so much trash never again to ally themselves with him even though he is on our side) that allows our cause and our fight for freedom to bog down in the quagmire of our own infighting and bickering while the anti's unite to legislate our rights away incrementally while we knife each other in the back. He is with us! Just as true warfare has incidents of friendly fire accidents, so did we. Now we need to reinforce, and re-support, and move on with supervision. The court martial of the general responsible for the accident, who has given 40+ year of service, won't help us to win the war, and sniveling at him in a big dog & pony show while the war rages on, doesn't accomplish anything constructive and only hinders our efforts to win the war.0 -

I'm not sure of the disposition of this reply. Since we DID take a zero-tolerance stance, and we DID act accordingly, and we have turned him squarely back onto the right path, is he still disqualified from carrying our torch?0 -
Jim Zumbo's exile from the shooting community was cathartic in a sense, because he and his comments represent the factional nature of 2nd amendment supporters. That divide between "hunter" and "shooter," if not bridged somehow, will drive us apart. And once that happens, the 2nd amendment will be stamped out. Whether you shoot your grandpappy's duck gun or a tricked out AR-15, you are a member of the shooting community, and community members look out for each other.
Jim Zumbo forgot that (or else he never understood it in the first place).0 -

Correct, I am speaking of the continued back stabbing and refusal to accept him back on our side even after the apology and new found direction and mission for him to get squarely on board with us. We fixed the problem as needed to be done, but now that it is fixed, do we keep our backs turned on him out of a ego driven self serving spite?0 -
American Nimrod
You are basing your reasoning on the assumption that Zumbo is sincere. I don't think his apology was sincere and EVEN if it was sincere it only means he now believes black rifles are ok for hunting not general ownership.
Until he comes clean and states the 2nd Amendment is for all Americans to own any gun this Zumbo terrorist will consider the man a traitor and enemy.
And even then I still might not forgive him. The Brady bunch is already quoting him, the damage is done.0 -

Yes, I agree... I get this, and I think we are close to if not on the same wavelength...
I think I may have failed to communicate in my original post that I agree with removing him if he were not of the mind to reconsider his position, whether for lip service or for real. And that our reaction to his words was exactly the right one.
I think alot of us are missing the bigger point that you seem to see thru the haze of this debacle/battlefield. If this ideal can exist we are failing to educate the ignorant, furthermore, we are failing to come together as gun owners no matter what our use or purpose for those firearms is.
I see "why" he makes his statements about his opinions on guns being about hunting, only because I am smart enough to see that's what he is and does, is hunting related/driven, therefore, obviously his opinions are generated from his hunting perspective - However wrong, ignorant, intellectually dishonest, and counterproductive those opinions and ideals were/are.
My point is about what we do with him now. Now that Ted Nugent and others have publicly called him out and onto a mission of the right path, amends, and to lead the battle as the general he can be now better than ever before, can we turn behind him with equal fervor and support him with the equivalent power (obviously as long as he follows thru with his stated new intentions and missions) that we smote him with? And will we...0 -

Yes, but we have no choice (other than an intellectually dishonest refusal to reasonably accept and realize he is human and we are too, and to see what good can and should come of this) as humans than to offer our acceptance, with the disclaimer of his being honest or the deal is off, and a second chance (actually a real first chance) for him to go down the exactly right road.
To be honest, I was once of the same opinion when I was a young liberal jackass. Were it not for the acceptance and being afforded a 2nd chance to rethink my position, I would not be where I am today. I am a Life member of the NRA, a staunch supporter of the constitution, especially the 2nd amendment as I feel it guarantees all of the other rights, a registered Republican (not that it means anything anymore) a conservative supporter of everything American and Judeo-Christian valued.
I was there, I know how and why that ignorant opinion about a vague, non-existent ideal like "assault weapon" gets slipped into the psyche of well intentioned, but ignorant, Americans, young and old alike. In my case I was the product of an overtly liberal agendized public education system here in The Peoples Republic of Massachusetts... I was taught nothing but crap from the libs starting at the very beginning of my life where I grew up in the time of the very first adaptation of the "pre-school" starting education which is nothing more than an earlier indoctrination into socialism than kindergarten.
I somehow was able to educate myself, and I sought out other thoughts/opinions, I finally found Rush Limbaugh, and the many others that have followed him that blow the fresh air of truth into the lungs of the American populous... It was a hard road, but I have come full circle and have been on a righteous path for well over a decade now and am towing the line as well as I can and better than most.
Should I have been ignored? Should my efforts and fight for our American liberties been repudiated because when I was younger I made stupid ignorant mistakes?
I know, I know, Sarah Brady is and can use his words... But the whole debacle is so huge and public now that many figures that do garnish awesome public forums like Ted Nugent, many 2nd amendment groups, publications, and media, etc., etc., are on board with helping Mr. Zumbo to follow thru with his mission, publicly offering the truth of the situation, to denounce their use of his words, and what the truth is and how he was ignorant and wrong... Whereas, before this mission would not exist and the Sarah Brady's of the world would be using those words as spoken by anyone anyway to further their confiscatory agenda...
I just think we need to as fellow humans offer him a 2nd chance with the obvious need for oversight making sure he stays on track, to possibly do more good for our cause specifically because of his debacle than would have been being performed before his blunder and if it had never happened.0 -
[:I] Nice pics... I am shaking my head in disbelief that I got this started... I so want to move on and forget about this whole Zumbo thing... I think things are on track now and with oversight I think some good will come of all of this...
I know I want to move on... [:p]0 -
Nimrod;
Congratulations on your conversion. As with most human endeverors..you have a way to go yet. Your liberal sympathies are working over time.
The man needs to go into the night...away from the comfort of the fire he p issed in. 60 years old...and he is STILL stupid about the Second Amendment ????
That is PRECISELY the argument I have with the NRA...the top rungs of the organization are INFESTED with "Zumbos".."Sporting use" MEANS something to those people !!
Good BY...and damn well good riddence !!
Now...if I could have just gotten people as riled up over Charlton Hesston...who said basically the exact same thing, a month or so after he took ver the NA...on a radio show !!
RIFT our ranks ofthe gun grabbers !!..the closet gun control freak thaT refuses to demand the government punish EVIL-DOERS...instead of EVERYBODY...0 -

What, you think Zumbo has had an epiphany or something and changed his views since he spoke his true thoughts, people noticed and he got spanked?
He said what he said and he meant what he said. Do you think he woke up that morning and suddenly realized that he was ok with banning "assault weapons" or "terrorist weapons".
You are damn right he is disqualified.
By the way, who's torch was he carrying, yours? He sure wasn't carrying mine.
Your original post was a question about rallying together and destroying Socialist/Communist Dems. It was related to what happened to Mr. Zumbo.
I posted my thoughts on why destroying them will not work as it did on Mr. Zumbo.
My point is, that we need to adopt the "Zumbo effect" for each and every gun ban/restriction attempt. If the Anti-gunners see this kind of a visceral reaction, they may fear to move forward.0
