tax advantage if registered there...giant sucking siphon $$$$ into pockets, cut IRS paynments 0 -
With all the crap they take, can you blame them? 0 -
UAE looking more and more like an economic powerhouse for the NWO. Have to say all the Brown & Root (a subsidiary of Haliburton) guys I worked with in Korea were all hardworking and patriotic Americans, of course those were just the guys on the ground. On a Corporate Level I assume they are most likely similar to the rest of the corporations. 0 -
Good riddance. Their executives belong in prison for stealing from the American taxpayer. They've been caught, on MULTIPLE occasions, overcharging the United States government for services rendered in Iraq or charging for services THEY NEVER PROVIDED, to the tune of tens of millions of dollars of taxpayer dollars.
Oh, and one of their contracts was to provide water to U.S. bases in Iraq, for showers/laundry/etc. They got their water from Iraqi rivers, never purified it or decontaminated it, and provided it to our troops. We can only guess how many of our guys got sick because these war profiteering traitors put their profit margins ahead of American lives. Firing squad at dawn for their executive board would be fitting.0 -
They will maintain the present office in Houston, though I don't know if it will operate with a reduced staff. Halliburton is merely a small part of the giant financial/industrial conglomerates that influence everything that happens in the Western World, and much of what occurs World wide. They do employ thousands of Americans both here and abroad, and are known for the excellent wages an benefits they pay. The Middle East is the source of much of their business, and the move is understandable. More evidence that our military adventures in that area are motivated by the huge oil reserves so coveted by "Big Oil". Big business rules the Western World, the evidence is overwhelming. The question is whether one thinks this is good or bad. 0 -
May some middle eastern man detonate a nuclear warhead in the UAE. 0 -
thats where they work out of anyway!
Like the IRS makes working here easy.
They give us flexability that we need, not cheap, but cheaper than the US gov't can do, so give them a break.
the Govt guys are the ones who write the checks.
They have been overpaid some times, but have also operated at a loss sometimes to keep the mission going.0 -
tsavo,
Not even the IRS works in American anymore. Request a copy of your last years filing for income tax....it's free. It'll come from Puerto Rico.0 -

Puerto Rico is part of the United States. I remember there were draftees from P.R. in the Army back in the '60s. It's a territory like Alaska and Hawaii before they were made States.0 -

i have a brother and brother-in-law that retired from Halliburton
back when the home office was still in Duncan, OK.
it is all together an different co. now.0 -
Funny how people are making excuses for Halliburton when, yet were pitching kittens over Heinz buying tomatoes from Mexico.
Am I to understand that Halliburton is to be applauded for fleeing the United States to avoid paying taxes?
Didn't Wesley Snipes do something similar and get panned for doing it not too long ago?
Americans, by and large, complain about paying taxes and only want them cut.
I maintain the position that it's not paying them that bothers me, but rather, how it is spent.
If it is okay to flee when taxes become inconvenient (and trust me, for Halliburton that's all they are), then are you not condoning the exact kind of "cut and run" strategy that you all feel would be an act of cowardice and stupidity where Iraq is concerned?0 -

I think your mixing apples & oranges again, but on the plus side, you did not mention Bush, so I guess your learning.0 -
I have mixed emotions about Halliburton.
Not sure if they are good guys or bad guys.
Is it really that black and white??

+1
also, by moving closer to operations and minimizing tax paid, they can provide services CHEAPER!
wow, you anti-captitalists never thought about that!

1.) Heinz can buy tomatoes from whoever they want.
2.) Wesley Snipes deserves to go to jail for OTHER reason than tax evasion. Blade II comes to mind
3.) I detest both the collection AND spending of taxes.0 -

you heard wrong or you are intentionally lying. they moved ONE of their headquaters to Dubai. and why does that mean they hate america ? is it because you are a liberal and YOU hate america and haliburton ? in the last 7 years liberals have spewed the most vile hatred for towards haliburton and it just wont ever end. shouldnt you haters be GLAD haliburton is moving some of it offices abroad ? do you liberals even know that EVERY international company has offices in many different countries in the world ? are you liberals SOO blinded by hate and cynicism that you cant even form a logical thought ?0 -

Damn!
I really like their line of suitcases...0 -
Halliburton has operations all over the Globe, as do many multinational corporations. It's called doing business on a large scale. This new office is no big deal. 0 -
They move/open an office in the UAE, so they hate America?
This train of thought should/does give insight of how the liberal mind works, or doesn't work
Fact is, there is NOT ANY company capable of providing the services Haliburton does, for ANY price.
...Over charge for an item/service...wow, must be a new concept. EVERY defense contractor does or has "overcharged", but over charge is a major missnomer to anyone that knows how dealing with the government/miliatary is a joke.
... Its not like someone gives you a set of plans for a washing machine and says "here, make me a couple of hundred". It's like someone giving you the plans to make a couple hundred washing machines and saying "here, I want it yesterday, and exspect 500 changes to the design", each one unanounced.
So just what is "overcharging" under those circumstances.
I guess with the lib mindset no one should be allowed to make money, oh! that's socialism or communism...right up the lefties alley...[;)]

They've robbed the American taxpayer for HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of dollars. They get caught, and then they do it again. That's reason enough for me to hate them, THEY ARE STEALING FROM YOU AND ME!!! The government has done audits, Haliburton has on multiple occasions either overcharged the U.S. government for its services or just plain charged us for s**t they never did. That's theft. And when they get caught, their only punishment is they have to give back the money they stole. How is that fair? Haliburton just blames it on accounting errors and such to avoid responsibility.
And for everytime we've caught them stealing, there's probably 10 other times that they've ripped us off and got away with it. F**king war profiteers is all they are.0 -
There are too many documented instances of them putting soldiers' lives in danger for a buck and I hope every single Halliburton executive gets brought up on charges and hung like the war profiteering bas***** they are. 0 -

In a loose sense this has been true of big business for many years, and through many wars.
Halliburton is not the sole beneficiary in this war, this is the biggest "feast" since Viet Nam.0 -
I think Halliburton loves America. They are making billions of dollars as a result of politics. They really don't produce anything of value to anyone, yet, rake in the dough. I'm sure the executives at Halliburton are madly in love with Bush's America. Think about it. 0 -
They supply a service to the US Military and Coalition Forces and some goods.
Profit as a result of the Governments policies are what BIG Business and G.W.B. friends are there for.
This profit for hire policy by the Government and Government contractors as not changed from Civil and Indian war times.
COLT FIREARMS used to have a good civilian sales market in the past, where does most of their profit come from today, M-4 and M-16 sales to whom ?? UNCLE SAM !!!
Sounds like we should not blame the companies , but the person or persons placing the orders for these items, goods and services. UNCLE SAM !!!0 -
This is just an extension of Bush Bashing, pretending they want Haliburton to get rich.
Yes they are wasteful sometimes, charge too much, and the like, but still they are cheaper and more flexable than our govts capabities.
Fine, shoot all Haliburton execs ( and walmart too , b/c capitalisim is bad[}:)]), then see how much it costs you to have the same capability.0 -
but mango, profit is a bad word now.
Didn't you get the communist memo we all are supposed to be taking to heart????
Nevermind that it is the reason we all have private sector jobs. It is evil to make a profit ever, esp with war.
That should be work you do for free.0 -
I was out doing a seminar on ... profit for fun regardless of .....
missed that memo.... please resend so I may be properly enlightened and educated!!0
