Damn Coyotes...
They've been coming into town almost every night, killing someone's dog. They are back tonight and I think they are after the next door neighbor's dog (he's chained up...and the one that had his house condemned after the chimney fire). What pisses me off the most is that my dogs would go after them...and end up getting killed by the pack. We have to be very careful when letting the outside to go to the bathroom. If I were not in town, I'd get a night vision scope and go to work.[:(!]

I wacked a coyote on a horse prperty at the edge of town a few years ago with a bow at night. It was outside of the city limits but it was not safe to shoot even a 22. 0 -

PS; I love my .300 Winchester Magnum, it is a Winchester Model 670 Magnum... Generally for Coyotes I use my .220 Swift Ruger M77 MKII Varmint rifle if I have some distance to shoot, I also use an old Savage Model 40 Super Sporter bolt action in .30/30 Win. using the ".30/30 Accelerator" rounds, and I have a Winchester 94 Trapper Carbine lever action in .45 Colt that I use the CorBon .45 Colt Magnum cartridges in for tight cover/brush hunting... depending on where I will be hunting and/or what my mood is... [:)] I have upgraded my firepower after that fear-factor experience with the .22
I have better luck with a howler here where i am....upper northern plains where you can see for miles and miles lot louder i guess and wind is always blowing pretty good maybe that why it works better here....i have called a few in with rabbit distress call but howler works best for me. I have a Ed Sceary (sp) howler and another cant think of the name of it but it smaller and works good for me making the yipping sounds that the coyotes want to come in and kill the little dog[:D]
I normally use one of my 243's or 22-250....when i shot the ones with 300 mag i was deer hunting in a pasture of ours....was no good bucks in the group happen to see the five coyotes aprox a mile away at the far end of our pasture and decided what the hell i'll try howling and yipping without any call...to my supprise they came in and i hammered them.....man that was a rush ....i dont get buck fever even when i have a shot at a big buck but calling in coyotes thats a different story[8D]0 -
