Nope, no piddly .22 for me. When I'm in the "back country" I carry a S&W .500 magnum with a ported 6" barrel in a cross draw rig. [^]

    What he said.

I would have my Colt Anaconda 44 magnum in my shoulder holster. By the way, it's stainless with an 8" barrel.[:D]

My S&W 57 41mag with 6" barrel. I would have it loaded with full power JSP bullets. But I would also have a supply of cast SWC bullets at a medium velocity for shooting small game.

I like my 45 acp Kimber lightweight for woods carry. Don't expect to run into anything in Oregon but nasty two leg critters.

Our Black Bears are chicken shi...t and run like heck when you make noise. A surprise encounter with cubs could be a bit of a danger dance, but the chance of that happening is slim.[:0][:0]

I don't have any guns, but if I did I would either carry a 4" barreled Ruger GP-100 in .357, or a 5.5" barreled Vaquero in .45 LC. depending upon my mood. I would hardly ever carry both.

My good ole Ruger 45 blackhawk, loaded with buffalo bore ammo.
Makes me feel all warm and gooey, just thinking about it.

Sometines, for something different, I take my six-inch 28-2. Usually, though, it's my old Ballester.

Either a Colt 44 Mag, a Ruger 44 Mag or my .480 Ruger. But shot placement as someone mentioned at a charging bear at 35 MPH isnt an easy target. So they say "Toujours Prett"

4" 686 .357 down here (we dont have big bears)
a pistol gripped 870 (hell on snakes) and would fill the bill better against bears if I had to venture further north and west
I have a super blackhawk, but I would trust myself as much with it
