All Around Handgun for the Back Country
Let's stir the pot a little. You are hunting, back-packing, hiking in North America. What calibur hand gun would you take with you? Yes, I know if you are hunting the main calibur for the hunt is primary. Would it be the .22? Maybe the 357mag. The 41 and 44 mag are alwys good choices. Some might say the 10mm.

I would have my Colt Anaconda 44 magnum in my shoulder holster. By the way, it's stainless with an 8" barrel.[:D] 0 -

My S&W 57 41mag with 6" barrel. I would have it loaded with full power JSP bullets. But I would also have a supply of cast SWC bullets at a medium velocity for shooting small game. 0 -

I like my 45 acp Kimber lightweight for woods carry. Don't expect to run into anything in Oregon but nasty two leg critters.
Our Black Bears are chicken shi...t and run like heck when you make noise. A surprise encounter with cubs could be a bit of a danger dance, but the chance of that happening is slim.[:0][:0]0 -

I don't have any guns, but if I did I would either carry a 4" barreled Ruger GP-100 in .357, or a 5.5" barreled Vaquero in .45 LC. depending upon my mood. I would hardly ever carry both. 0 -
