Tenant and their Toyota Tundra
Had a prospective tenant come by today. Their toyota tundra was leaking transmision fluid. I spotted it and the guy flipped out. Raised the hood to check the level.. guess what?? we neither one could find a dipstick to check the amount.( just shaking my head at the Jap crap )[:D]

Jap crap??? My wife's car is a Lexus GX470. It has the same 4.7 litre as the Tundra. The oil and tranny dip sticks are clearly visible. The rest of the engine though is concealed by that big cover.
I'm surprised to hear that a Tundra has tranny problems.
Oh, I forgot. The Tundra is made here while the GX470 is made in Japan.[;)]0 -

Some of the Fords are now using a completely sealed transmission without a dipstick that you cannot top off if the fluid gets low. The trans fluid has to be injected in by the dealership. Im sure you wouldnt have to look that hard to find one of those that leaks. 0 -

my 1987 toyota truck "jap crap" had 290,000 miles on it when i sold it. never had any problems. however, i had two ford broncos 1991 and 1994 models that both blew trannies at about 65,000 miles requiring complete rebuilds. 0 -
If the vin starts with a J it was made in japan, if it starts with a 2 it was made in Canada, if it starts with a 1,4,or 5 it was made in the US, if it is a 3 it was made in Mexico. 0 -

Tundra's are made in Princeton, Indiana and San Antonio, Texas. My Silverado was made in Canada, My wife's Camry was made in Georgetown, Kentucky, and her Saab was made in Sweden.
There's more American made parts in the Camry than the Ford Mustang.0 -
Here is a forum talking about it.. I thought maybe I missed the dipstick or it had one hid somewhere else. By golly they are sealed transmissions.

Toyota Previa. Sister had one and loved it. If someone told you that you couldn't check the oil, they lied to you. You raised the hood, and there were dipsticks for the oil and tranny both! Engine was mounted back up nearly under the front seats, but it was really no worse than a full-size Ford or Chevy van. It was the FIRST minivan to pass every safety test the NTSB put it through. The low mounted engine made it great to drive. None of the tip-over and rolling around that you get in a Dodge or regular mini-van. Sister put over 170,000 miles on hers and only thing she had to have done was replace a drive shaft. If you look at edmunds.com, on consumer reviews it rates an 8.8 out of 10 possible points. That ain't bad!0 -

Interesting...and stupid in my opinion. That would drive me nuts. I check all the fluids once a week in mine and the girlfriends cars(oil sometimes more).
