Cats
To make a long story short, someone stoped feeding thier cat or moved and left the cat.I started feeding the cat.Do you feed cats twice a day? Do you feed them the whole can of food each time you feed them? This is an out door cat.Yes it can sleep on the porch, yes it has a nice cat bed.Yes it has a heat pad turned on when it gets cold.Yes the cat sleeps there.

What can be used to keep cats off the front lawn? 0 -
when I met andrea, she had this cat , chocolate. A confirmed cat hater, I avoided kicking it , as I was trying to make a good impression. this cat took to licking my head, sitting on only me, just taunting me. Got to the point that I actually started digging the dam thing. It plays fetch, chasing a ball, and dropping it right in my hand, likes it's belly rubbed, (only by me) and asks me for food, as well as attempting to 'groom' my hair. It's not a bad little critter, maybe I'll let it live..........[:D]
JOIN PETA! (PEOPLE EATING TASTY ANIMALS) I didn't climb to the top of the food chain to have a salad and spring water!0 -

Feed dry food. Keep the dish full. Most cats will not overeat. Make sure it has clean water. 0 -
Is it chained in your yard? 0 -
I feed cats once, and never have to worry about them again. 0 -
what Nunn said: cats will not eat themselves silly like dogs. Dry cat food is best option in this case, since it will not go bad as quickly as canned. 0 -

Water?How much water?0 -
Don't worry about how much food or water. Just keep plenty of each, fresh and clean, available, and the cat will help itself. If ants are a problem, there are dishes available that won't let ants in. 0 -
I dunno, either this cat eats quite a bit or this oriental fella fattening it up for a big stir fry[:)]

I know of a food that you only feed the cat once and it will last the rest of it's life...

Cats should have food available to them at all times...and that is why dry food is offered more...A good quaility dry food as the "more inexpensive" have a lot of corn and grain...Give the cat canned food twice a day or once a day and as for can size and amount?...If they are the smaller cans like Fancy Feast, usually the whole one, but larger cans like 9 lives is half...
The canned food is used at the cattery to give a lot of our meds, (medication mixed in with soft food) also used to tame a "wild" rescue.
Careful on the heating pad...dont put it on high, it can burn the cat...
thanks for taking care of the cat...we need more like you..0 -
victor, all the advice re: dry food is true. Don't rush into making the cat trust you; cats know about that there are humans who cannot be trusted (just look at some of the replies to this thread). Make a list of the user names who think they are funny with their anti-cat rhetoric and keep it handy for the next time they post something stupid about their flea bitten, butt licking mutts. Find kitty a nice home or get it to a no-kill shelter if you can't keep it. You must have a big heart as opposed to some of the knuckle-dragging neanderthals here. Some of us applaud your compassion. 0 -
Woodshermit: I guess the smiley face didn't get the point accross. I was joking, we're in a gun forum someone had to say it! I like cats, I like all animals thats why i don't hunt. 0 -
Bless you for caring for this animal that didn't create its own situation. That's something humans do. I, too, find myself taking in dumped cats, including two declawed ones in the past few months. Whoever does that -- dumps a declawed cat -- should, unlike the cats themselves, be shot. [}:)] 0 -
Usually just feed them 1 50gr. V-Max from my KHornet!

This sounds like how I start off with stray cats that usually end up sleeping on top of me in my bed. 0 -
Just say Meow. 0 -
O.K. , well I never was really a 'cat person' , but now I have three (3) that own me ...a black female "poophook",a grey striped female "sady" and a big grey male "coontail" , all come in & eat and back out , they go to the door and out ...we leave dry food available all the time , & they drink from the dog water bowl ...By the way "sady" curls up and sleeps with my big (100 lb plus)"scooby" ???
Thanks !!!

No, no one had to say it, and you cast doubt upon your character by doing so.
Thanks Victor! There are some good books on cat care out there if this guy starts to win you over further. Some of my best friends are cats, you could gain a lot from the partnership.0 -

I have an outside cat---it kinda came with house I was renting. House had an enclosed porch, so I just installed a kitty-door, and kept dry cat food and water. Now I'm living in a house that has a porch, but it is not enclosed. After a week of keeping the cat indoors to acclimate to the new digs, I started feeding it outside---half a can of Friskies. After I was sure the cat was gonna stick around, I started the usual bowel of dry Friskies.
I noticed it was eating wayyy too much, so I thought some other cat was moonlighting with my cat's food. I set up my game camera on my porch to try a get a pic of the culprit, and much to my surprise, it wasn't a cat stealing the food, it was a whole herd of raccoons---biiiiig raccoons----raccoons that could prolly kick the $#!+ out of any pit-bull, much less a 9-pound cat.
So, now I feed him (the cat) as I leave for the office (Half a can) and when I get back home, I'll feed him the other half.
This system has worked for about a year now.0 -
I have had to relocate many opposums and raccoons that fed on our outside cats food. I have also taken many stray cats to the No Kill shelter to be adopted out. Have a Heart traps work great.[:)] 0 -
how about a good washing?
