I am retired and work out on the treadmill every day. Miss one day once in a while, but I burn 500 cal according to the readout on the treadmill. I am still heavy and have not been very successful at getting weight off. After 60 its a real struggle to get the ole matabalism cranked up.

Wife and I try to do a 2.5 mile walk several times per week too and I do situps and some weights once in a while.

Sit on my butt too much I guess and am not as active As a working stiff. But I am trying hard to lose 25 lbs this year.[:0]

i live in a town that only has few hundred people so pretty much can use whatever machine whenever fars as hot gym babes here are far and few between though a class mate of mine works out there and she is very good looking. this place is only a few blocks from house so is handy to get to.....also is nice to get out of the house in the evening away from the kids for little bit, just take I pod crank it and get to work[8D].
pry will only did this deal in the winter, as soon as calving starts the first of march and farming starts i dout i'll have time, calving deal is 24 hr a day thing and being in good shape for that sure wont hurt anything and also i would'nt mind putting on more weight as muscle

and now with working out everyother night i feel a lot better and got a lot more energy...starting feel like a youngster again[}:)]

Watch out, that usually leads to having more kids. Laugh all you want but both my buddies did the same thing when they were about 40 and now, will go to college graduation when they are 62! [8D]

If you're going to exercise, whatever form you do, I'd recommend at least minimal supplements to help you get the most out of the work you do. People seem to think they're only for serious jocks, but they're easy, they're effective, and why do more work to achieve the same results?

Cardio: ECA stack. It'll help, trust me. You'll burn easily twice as many calories for the same amount of work. Just be smart about it (healthwise), and be sure to cycle it (3 weeks on, 1 off) since your body develops a tolerance.

Weights: protein supplements will help make sure you have enough available to build up the muscles you work. You'd be surprised how many people get next to no protein in their diets and are shocked when they don't put on muscle mass.

I could never belong to a gym. Just too structured for me. We have ample snow this winter so I've been snowshoeing a couple times per week plus I have about 10 cords of tree length firewood to cut up and split. I walk about 5 miles most weekends when the ground is bare, garden in the summer (although the knees aren't what they used to be), ride my mountain bike on a regular basis, and have strenuous aerobic sex at least 10 times weekly.

that could be whats causing your knee problems, maybe you should try different positons, so you dont put stress on the knees [;)]
