Step mom is driving me crazy.

My step mom is about to drive me over the edge.
I just brought a new house. closed on it a couple of weeks ago. I'm in the process of fixing it up.
Problem is my step mom from day one has pushed for me to replace all the windows. It's number one on her list. I don't think the windows are bad and think they can wait. I do agree that windows should be on my list, just down on the list. There's too many other things I want/need first.
But she keeps insisting on the windows. Leaving little sales flyers on my desk. Tell me about window sales. Saying how much better the house would look with window. She had our contractor go and get quotes for new windows. She's done a photochop of my house with new windows. She freaking driving me nuts. How do I make her stop!!!
My dad first agreed with me that I can wait on windows, but now she's got him convinced I need all new windows.
My dad went so far as to say that if my real mom would have just breathe the thought of new windows I would have done it by now.
But if my real mom wanted me to have new windows that bad, she would have brought them for me herself.
I can't get it thought my step mom's head that I'm on a tight budget on this house. I can't afford the windows right now. At least not the windows and the others things I want.
Please..please how do I make her stop?

    Tell her it's not any of her business and that windows are not your first priority, FINANCIALLY.
    If she still insists, tell her to pay for them herself and you only want Pella.

    1st of all shes not your real mom and never will be and he needs to know this 2ed Id told him Mom would have baught them if she wanted you to have them that bad [}:)]
    I know what your saying I have a stepmom want a be [:0] shes been my dads girlfriend for 13 years might as well be the stepmom but he knows she will never ever take my moms place or does he want her to.

    Let her know that Winter is coming and that you would like to have time to get other things in order before jumping on a project of that size.

    You did not describe the house in detail. So if it can be painted use that as an excuse to wait on the windows.

    Is it your house? Or hers? Tell her to MHOB. Get it over with. It's rude for her to do this with all the pressure you have in getting a new house, anyway....[:)][:)]

    There is only one way to deal with the meddling. Sit her down and tell her what she means to you. Then tell her to mind her own dam business. Then have her take you to lunch.

    I can't be rude to her. After all she's still my step mom and the woman my dad loves. I can be rude to my dad, but that's different.
    I do alot work for them and their houses. I think she's forgotten this is not one of their rentals or flip houses, but my own house. I have no plans to sell this house right now.
    I fell in love with this place and plan to live in it. It's a bank repo and I got if very cheap. People are still making me offers on it. I've been made 2 offers that would made me a profit if I'd took them.
    It's a beatiful 2 story, 3100 sq feet, 6 Bedroom, 3 bath, on 7 woooded hilly acres next to a state game reserve. I plan to make a shooting range, and a pond. and I may sell it later, but right now the market won't support a flip or at least a much profitable one.
    I know I can make alot of money on this house if I time the market right.
    Right now their busy on one of their houses. I'm afraid that after their done that's going to give her more time to push those windows.

    BTW: Not to get off topic, but having someone replace your windows is the biggest waste of money you can do on this planet to your house. It is about 1/2 hour per window to put new ones in. If you can physically life the new window, you CAN do this yourself.

    I had estimates up to $15k for my 18 windows, I did them all myself for $2500! That includes a $700 garden window. I used Home Depots "American Craftsman" brand. They have a better warranty than Andersen or Pella.

    The first one took me 45 minutes, the second 40, the third 1/2 hour and by the end, 20 minutes. That is 20 minutes to remove the old one, prep the hole, install the new one and caulk it. Simple as could be!

    Now if you really want to make some money on your property you need to pick up the whole thing and drop it into Southern California, you could sell it for $2.5 million then[;)]

    Start by rambling and babling about strange things when shes around, laugh and giggle for no appernt reason, start talking lovingly about knives and sharp tools and then tell her there is a spider in your bedroom that talks to you and says he wants you to cover all the windows with black curtains because he likes the darkness, among other things that you can only discuss with the spider....... Oh yeah, she'll leave you alone!!!! lol!!!

    Have you asked her why the windows being replaced are so important to her?

    Have you explained to her that money is tight and other things come first? and told her what comes first before the windows?..

    I do alot. I can't say I really have a 9 to 5 job. My main "job" is working for my parents. I guess I can call myself my dad's assistant.
    I can do the windows myself, but we do have a contractor we use alot. My dad has rentals and flips houses and most of the time I make the decisions on what gets done and where the money goes.
    I also buy and sell boats, pwc's and atv's but that's coming to a close for the year.
    I have a boat storage building I run and that's getting ready to get busy. I do some hauling for my granpa, who pays me by the mile.
    Really in the winter I'm not that busy, so this house is going to get alot of my attention over the next few months.


    We have a realitor that give us insider inform about house before they hit the market. I looked at this house a couple of days before it actually hit the market and made the offer 2 days after it went on the market. You might want to know I brought this house for less than 90K[:)][:)]
    It orginally sold for 170K 4 years ago. But it needs alot of work, but like I've said I've already been made a couple of profitable offers the way it is now. Country houses are still selling well in our area.

    Once I get done with some of the repairs and get a new camera(mines at the bottom of a big lake) I will post pictures. I really love this place!!!

    If and when you do get new windows I recomend Weather Tamer's they have a lifetime warranty. You can take one out and Im a big guy 6'6 260 (its not from eating doughnuts) and sstand on them. They are insulated and they also insulate the frame around the window. Even the screens have a lifetime warranty. We had one to tear and we called them and the next week or so they sent a guy to replace the screen. They are expensive but ours have paid for theirselves with savings from heat and air over the last 5yrs.

    Take her to dinner. Explain to her the process of puting ones parents in a nursing home. Ask her if she has a preferance. You know just incase. I mean hey it worked for me.
