Travis Is On His Way Back
To Iraq, that is. Dawnie and I took him to the airport. Lots of "hurry up and wait." Be here a this time to check in, now wait 6 hours until you can actually get on the plane.
Just after he got out of the truck.

Travis spooked one of the Thousands Standing Around with a gum wrapper in his pocket, so he got pulled out of line for a thorough search.
Guess who else was there to see the boys off?
A whole busload of Dallas Cowboy cheearleaders.
Dad and Travis with some of the girls.
A couple seemed to take a liking to Travis.
They just kept on asking him questions.
Travis regales the ladies with war stories. It did seem that he got an unfair amount of attention.

I've played USO gigs, with a now-defunct group, CrossHarp Sharp's Blues Review. I can't remember what it paid, but it was a few dollars above nothing. Great people, the organizers and volunteers.
