Travis Is On His Way Back
To Iraq, that is. Dawnie and I took him to the airport. Lots of "hurry up and wait." Be here a this time to check in, now wait 6 hours until you can actually get on the plane.

Just after he got out of the truck.

Hurry up and wait some more.

"Carry-on bags limited to 25 pounds."

Hugs from some grandmotherly-type volunteers.

Travis spooked one of the Thousands Standing Around with a gum wrapper in his pocket, so he got pulled out of line for a thorough search.
Guess who else was there to see the boys off?

A whole busload of Dallas Cowboy cheearleaders.

Dad and Travis with some of the girls.

A couple seemed to take a liking to Travis.

They just kept on asking him questions.

Travis regales the ladies with war stories. It did seem that he got an unfair amount of attention.
Four months to go. Counting down.

Great photos Dave, thanks for sharing them.
May God watch over him and all our service personnel!0 -
That had to be quite a thrill for him to get a send off from that group. That was nice of them to do so.
My prayers for his safe return in four months![:0]0 -
Looks like he had a good farewell from the girls and I am sure he will be talking about that. You have a lot to be proud of with him. Tell him that he has my deepest thanks for the job he is doing for his country. Also tell him to come back home safe. Dave 0 -

PS: If any of you has any spare money lying about that you want to donate to a worthy cause, please consider the USO.
We visited the USO facility at DFW Airport, and were very impressed. There is someone (unpaid volunteer) to talk to, answer questions, etc. There is a plasma TV with cable channels and a DVD player. There is a place to lie down and rest. There is a place to stash your gear so you don't have to keep up with it. There are telephones. There is hot food, cold food, snacks, and drinks. There are wireless computer connections for those who have their own, and computers for those who don't. There is a kiddie play room for soldier's children. There are greeting cards for soldiers to use to send birthday greetings etc. to their loved ones.
And, it is all FREE to the troops.0 -

He will be back, safely, before you know it.
I have said too many "durch den Vermittler mit Gott" to my own Sons.
And they have all safely returned - except for Darren, who will.
May God go with him.

Yes, he will. I will not contemplate otherwise. 0 -

The longest 4 months you will likely endure, I'm sure. I'll say a prayer for all of them and you. 0 -
Prayer sent for a safe return. God bless him and all our troops.
Our catholic priest has a prayer for the soldiers every Sunday. And for peace in Iraq and Afganistan. He should know. He was there as a Chaplain. He is a Lt Commander (I think) in the Navy.
And yes, Dawnie looks like a peach! Stay blessed.0 -
Dammit David, why didn't you tell me all this was going on and I would have stayed a few more days!! Yeah the cheerleaders are pretty good but Dawnie is HOT. Go ahead and post the pic I sent to you but it ain't near as good as the ones you already posted. Tom 0 -

They searched Travis?
... seems kind of odd to me since I've heard reports of them searching people with m-16's. Yeah I know the m-16 is probably what set off the metal detectors. Dont really have a link, but I heard it somewhere.0
