Just saw it on the feeder, never seen it before here in Wisconsin. A bit smaller than a cardinal.

Flew into the sliding glass door. It sat in the bush for about an hour then flew away.

In this part of the country, we call them a Cedar Waxwing.
They swarm our place when the Red-Hot Pokers are in bloom.

Cedar waxwings look almost the same but have a few different colors on them.

We had a flock of them move through a few months back and make short work of the berries on our holly trees.

Cedar wax wings dont have the white strip on their wing. Why does this waxwing have a white strip if its a cedar?

According to the Audobon field guide, they look more like the Bohemian Waxwing than the Cedar Waxwing. They are wider and yellower. The crest and the black mask across the eyes look like waxwings though.

Those people who said they are Cedar Waxwings are correct. I stand corrected.

The difference can be seen in the tail area. A Cedars is yellowish and the Bohemian has a chestnut colored patch. As these birds do not have that tell-tale chestnut patch, they must be Cedars.

I changed my mind again. It's the Bohemian Waxwing, They have the yellow tips as well, and they have white wing stripe.

    Bohemian Waxwing, final answer.
