Computer update

It may suprise you that in the very near future that the memory in your computer will actually "remember" where you left off so you can start up in no time at all.

    If your booting to the XP screen, it sounds like a OS issue rather than a hardware issue, do you have one of the xp boot diagnostic cds?
    I have a copy of Hiren's boot cd v 8.3, I was told it is the cats azz for problems like you describe.

    i suspect a loose ribbon or molex to the hd, you couldn't use the key board if it is usb, even if you have usb turned on sometimes, a ps keyboard is integrated with the motherboard, and should always work

    the other one plugged right into the back.. this one i use now is a USB.. its my uncles.

    If you can hook up a stereo system and a DVD and it all runs you can get the parts and build your own have twice the PC at 1/3 the cost.

    Newegg is my preference in all this.

    I mean this in the nicest way and mean no offense to anyone but saying Dell or HP are good deals is admitting ignorance.
    When you look at their top of the line expensive PCs believe me (and others) you can put one together at their entry price that will equal or top their high ends ones and once you have done so you will know how it works and be able to trouble shoot many (not all) things.

    Like the difference in firearms when someone that reloads has an AR that the bolt won't lock back after the last round or stove pipes a new load and knows exactly how to fix it; building your own PC is like reloading in that you follow the dots.

    It is not idiot easy but even those of us that went to public school (long bus only) can do it!!!
