Dell has some that you can lease if money is a problem and pretty cheap.

I have two Dells and work got some nice acers from staples. I like Notebooks with a wireless connection so the family can move to any room for school or work.

Work has our desktops custom made by a local shop.

Have you considered building one yourself? I know you're a smart kid.

It's really more like assembling parts. Not complicated at all. If you are buying prebuilt, check Tigerdirect.com and look at their Systemax computers. Best bang for the buck in prebuilt PCs.

I could build one without a problem, but with school, and i dont have any parts, it would be difficult.

I thought the same thing with mine. But the only problem I had was a blown fuse in the power supply. Cost me a grand total of $2.00. I would get it checked before you buy a new one.

yep, electric went out, didnt get it unplugged fast enough.. ZAP

fried it... nothing works, USB keyboard, regular one, no mouse, no nothing. Thought about resetting it via BIOS and see if it worked, but this was only 128 bucks on ebay.. and its not bad.

I second that. I bought a HP with an Intel Pentium dual processer w/ 1 gig ram, 350 gig hard drive, cd/dvd burner and a 19 inch LCD monitor for about $550.00[:)][:)]

If nothing works it sounds more and more like a fuse.
Are you sure that you're getting power to the computer?

I had the same thing happen to me with a HP computer that I had for only about 3 months. Had a power outage and when the power came back on, the computer would not go past the XP page. I called HP support, since it was still under warranty, and we went through a lot of steps to try to correct the problem. Nothing seemed to help. As you know, you no longer get any software CD's with a new computer. He said that the hard drive needed formatting and he would send me the discs to do this. I received the CD's a couple of days later and was getting ready to format the drive and reinstall XP. I turned the computer on and had to leave it for a while (about an hour and a half) and when I came back, the computer was working again !!!!!! Remember the older windows OS's, when they are turned off and not properly shut down, when you did turn it on it would tell you that the computer was improperly shut down and it would check for errors? In windows XP, you don't get that message, but it checks and repairs errors, all from the initial windows XP page. Hope this all makes sense.
My suggestion would be to leave the computer on for at least 2 hours and it may come back on after checking for and fixing errors. If it does, defrag and it should be O.K.. That was seven years ago and it is still working perfectly.

    Thanks---Peabo

And if I have a problem
I always go to Dell's "community forum" and I'll guarantee---one of the forum "gurus" or "geeks" will fix my problem.

If you have a Dell and need help, their "Community Forum" is a great place to go for computer help.
