As I said the religious ones get their panties all in a twist when ask a question they cant answer except with some lame excuse. Ask a question and they twist it into a "Persecution" of the religious. Could it be that because they cant answer the reason behind 2 accounts of the same event that they have to lash out instead of using reason and thinking about the question and maybe finding an answer.. There are over 10,000 biblical discrepencies and I am sure there is an excuse for each of them. Will they ever wake up to the fact that "christianity" is a stolen religion stolen from many pagen religions. I bet most of them dont even know when and how this Jesus became Christ..Or which story is true,, the Mithras story or the Jesus Story, as they are both identical and the Mithras story was a couple thousand years before the Jesus story.

Thats Ok, I wont tax your brains any longer with questions that hurt your feelings. Just wish there was someone that without BS that could explain why the bible has so many condradictions and which story is the true story when there are two or three different accounts of the same event.

If you get pissed because of questions you have a problem.

I'm part native american. Sorry your opinions will never hold water with me and I've never been molested in my Christian church. I don't consider the Catholic church a Christian church.

For the record, I'm a Christian. I've never killed an Indian, killed a witch or molested any children. I teach Sunday School, but not sex-ed. I have never had any attraction to any gender other than female. I agree with you on one thing, those crop-fouling witches are a problem.[:)]

    And you're totally dumb.

I've not killed any native americans, or for that matter, anyone else. I've not burned any witches or, for that matter, anyone else. And, the number of priests that molest is miniscule compared to the number of priests that do not.

But, enjoy your fantasy world. I can't help but wonder what the color of the sky is over there. But, that would involve my giving a damn, which I don't.

I'm a Catholic, never taught sunday school, but I have taught sexuality education. Kids need to be knowledgeble enough to make responsible decisions. Just telling them don't do it isn't enough. They need to know facts.

    Classic,

how many times have you seen different variations of the same joke posted here or heard the same story but some details were slightly different from one persons telling to the next?

The Bible has already been shown to have been written by many authors, each author writes the story from the perspective they saw or heard. Each tale is slightly different because the person telling the story is different from the next.

In illustration, I post this for you to ponder and any leos can either vouch for or refute its veracity.

As related to me, in one police academy course, cadets are asked to determine which eye witness is telling the truth. They were given a case to study in which a car being driven caused an accident. Seven people witnessed the accident and gave their descriptions to different officers. Each witnessed gave the same make and model of car, but 1 saw a red car, witness 2 saw a green car, 3 saw yellow, 4 saw blue, 5 saw rust, 6 saw white and 7 saw black. After comparing notes, the investigating officers were stumped as to which had the right car. As it turned out, all 7 eye witnesses were correct in their individual descriptions because the car involved had been repaired by using body panels from the same model car, but each panel was a different color. Each witness was standing at a different place and saw that body panel. Each gave the exact account, but color was the discrepancy.

Now, as I understand it, by your way of thinking, none of the accounts given by any of the witnesses could evey be true because each story, regardless of how much of their stories were the same, had a discrepancy that just didn't corroborate any of the other stories. It seems you would judge them and label each a liar because none of the stories were the exact same, each was different. But they gave an accurate account of what they saw (or heard)from their perspective, from each different position that each different person stood.

Now, from reading the two flood stories, could you not surmise that the person telling the story had the same account, but had a different viewpoint than the other? One person was told one mountain, one a different one. By your offerings, it would seem that only one story can be the correct story, but if no one can tell you which then neither is correct and both authors are liars and therefore anyone who believes either version is an idiot for having faith in the tale.
And none could ever offer you any proof that you seem to be seeking to make you believe as they do.

I harbor no ill will toward you and if my words have offended, ask yourself why are you offended. I certainly didn't intend to do so. I merely offered to you what you asked for: a reason for the different accounts of the same story. But know this, we are at war with a people whose belief tells them to do something, kill those that don't think like they do. In a small way you too are are doing the same, "they believe this and i don't so I'll do what I can to discredit their beliefs by pointing out the inaccuracies of their faith...take that true believers..."

Those of us that have faith and believe as we do already know the inaccuracies but that doesn't make what we believe untrue. We found our proof in the words and didn't need it handed to us for us to examine and dissect like a frog in biology class. And if some respond with a bit of anger to someone trying to disprove their faith and you can't understand why they take it so personally, it's because it's not just a comment on a subject but it is literally an attack on the core being of that person, an insult saying that a large part of what makes them who and what they are is stupid in your eyes. Now I don't know about you, but I sure take it as an insult to be called stupid, and I sure would hope you can see why people would be offended at that kind of presumption.

    I hope that helps sir.

As an observation...for someone who doesn't believe in God or the Bible, you sure do read the Bible alot.

Noah didnt land on Mt Ararat: In Genesis 8:4 it says he did, however in Genesis 11:12 inplies that they landed at a far different location. According to that verse the survivors traveled from some unidentified location east of Babylon and moved westward towards Babylon. It was the plain of Shinar, the territory surrounding babylon. So it cant be both ways. Which was it Ararat? ,or the other place? Sure wish those writers would have gotten their myths right.

Ararat is way to the north and slightly to the west of babylon. the survivors would have had to travel southeast of Ararat, NOT WEST to get to Shinar..HMMMMMMMMMM just another little error overlooked by the writers..[}:)]

From the King James Version of the Bible:

Genesis 8:4 - And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.

Notice it says "on the mountians of Ararat", not on Mt. Ararat.

Genesis 11:12 - And Arphaxad lived five and thirty years, and begat Salah:

I don't see anything in that verse that says anything about them traveling anywhere. I will give you the benefit of the doubt that you meant a different verse. I would ask you to post that verse. I would also ask you to post the verse in the original Hebrew with an accurate translation. Or in the Greek version with a translation. Or even in the Old English version. I think you get my point. There is a reason that the major religions teach their ministers Hebrew, Greek, German, and Latin. That way they can help explain some things that seem as inconsistancies.

A religion usually has churches, rituals, literature, music, etc. Followers of a religion typically participate in a communal manner with others. Atheists just don't believe in God. No churces, meetings, rituals, etc, where their beliefs are formally discussed.

How can atheism be considered a religion in the abscence of all the stuff associated with religion?

Since this post of yours has been proven just plan lame are we down to 9,999 discrepancies in the Bible, according to you? Did you really read a Bible before you posted? Or was this a cut and paste post?[:D][:D][:D]

It does appear that some people use exhuberance to justify their degradement of things, or other people, just because they choose to believe in nothing...not even themselves. It takes an extensive amouunt of time and effort to read, and re-read something you don't believe in to do so.

Actually if you look at from a sense, the Bible is probably the best novel of all time. It was literraly written by dozens of authors, who gave the accounts from the way they observed it in their own words. Some people are just not open enough to realize that more than one author can put their own twist into a book. I guess they call themselves educated, but that has yet to be proven too.

Not all religions require participation in a communal manner with others, and not all religions require churches, rituals, etc.

Hermits (no pun intended) can spend their lives in isolation, worshipping by themselves, and learn about God.

Atheism is a religion. It is the religion of believing there is no God. It is based strictly on faith. The atheist cannot prove there is no God and his beliefs are rooted in what he chooses to believe as "fact" -- same as those who believe in God. Atheists also tend to spend a great deal of time and energy trying to convert others to their religion, strangely enough.

Interesting discussion. One of the facets of religion that I have a problem with is religionism (defined as "extreme, excessive, or affected religious zeal). These idiots people seem to feel they can jam their beliefs down my throat and into my brain, irregardless of my demonstrated unwillingness. I give you, for example, Mormon missionaries. Not too long ago I was walking my dogs and two Mormons on bicycles were coming toward me. When they went past, they turned around, caught up and proceeded to grill me. They asked if I was happy. I replied. "yes". The next question was, "Do you believe in god"? I replied, "That's my business". This answer wasn't good enough for them so they followed me for about a quarter of a mile, still grilling me. The encounter ended with me saying, "I'm happy, but you're not gonna be when I knock your ass off that bike". Yes, I know that's their job, but discretion should be employed in doing it.
I'm not picking on any one faith, but a tendency toward a misdirected, zealous approach to religion. I believe it is a right and privledge for one to maintain his/her privacy of beliefs if they so desire.
If one wants to, "shout it out to the world", to the seemingly nonbelievers or others, who may or may not want to listen, they should go to Theology school and become a preacher.
