Nwcid, looks like you have a great place there. What state is that?

It is a very nice place on the edge of the middle of nowhere. I live in NE Washington.

I does it get very cold there? I love cold wheather, snow, ice, frozen lakes, etc.

I ask a guy where he lived. His answer was "You know where BFE is....I'm 2 miles pass that" I thought is was funny.

Where that house is there are all 4 seasons. During the winter we have a couple of months of 30-40* temps. There is usually a week or so of 0-30* temps. It can get down below 0* but not very often. I like the cold a lot better then the really hot. Once it gets over 80* I am cooking.

From where that house is I can ride all day long on my ATV and never cross the same spot and still have lots to go. You can shoot whenever you want. I am 3 miles from the Columbia river. The only thing I don't like about the area right were I am at is the lack of lakes. There are lots with in 1-1.5hrs drive but none right in the area of the house.

I have used the answers similar to the one you got. It is funny.

Yeah I had a couple of run ins with some of the new imported people in the area. I shot a few rounds (10-15) of 9mm into the ground just in front of me in the field to test fire a 9mm I had problems with. Neighbor (house has been there longer then I have been alive) that lives to the left of my hillside and down in a hole a few hundred yards further down comes up to the house (never met the guy before). He says when he came home earlier there was a hole in his mailbox and that since I was shooting now it must have been me (I have been shooting there for 20yrs and never hit anything down there yet). I told him nicely that he was an idiot and to prove it I showed him where I was shooting. He left all bent out of shape but had nothing else good to say. Jump forward a week (I was only home about 1-2 days a week at the time) I am out working on my Semi M-60. I had test fired about 20rds and here comes the neighbor flying up my driveway in his truck with his buddy. He gets out and tells me that I am shooting at his house and I need to stop right now. His buddy gets out and say "We could hear the bullets flying over the house, I was so scared I was laying under the truck"! I get a [:D] on my face and the neighbor get a pissed look on his face. I said well you need to come see what I am shooting. He gets all pissy and says I saw where you were shooting before but "I heard bullets flying over my house this time". I say well that is funny cause here is what I am shooting, handing him the belt of blanks I was shooting [:p]. He still didn't get what they were so I had to explain to him that there was no bullet to be flying over his house. He then tells me it must be the little red things in the end (the tiny paper keeper in the blank) that he heard. I pointed out the large red BFA on the end of the gun and explained how nothing could have come out.

He is now pissy since I am using fact to prove that he is stupid and uninformed. He was pretty much at a loss for words at this point as he was headed back to his truck. I told him that if he had any more problems with my shooting (since he came with the bad attitude) that he better bring the Sheriff with him or I would have him for trespassing.

For some odd reason it seems like every time I was home for about a month I have to test fire at least 2 mags from some gun. I never did here from him again. He was complaining about me to one of the neighbors I shoot with. The good neighbor told the bad one that "Your in the country now, deal with it".

This is where the State of MI let's us shoot. Locals call it The Pit. There a formal state run paper range down the road. This is for shooting non-paper and rapid fire shooting.

    Cutiegirlracing,

I have three sets of choices depending on the weather and temperatures. All have huge backstops and nearly unlimited line-of-sight across flat hunks of high and low desert:

    South
    509851.jpg

    West
    509852.jpg

    North
    509853.jpg

I could include East but that requires about 5-1/2 hours to get into the area that I like to shoot. The other three directions are all within a 2 hour drive and there is literally no one around ever. The one in the West (it's a bad picture taken through the truck window) takes 4-wheel drive to get back into the foot hills you see but just beyond them the range for shooting is only limited to how back you want to travel. We're currently preparing for some testing at ranges exceeding 1,000 yards but most of the time we concentrate on the markers set up at 1,000 yards and closer.

It's a camping trip since it's too far away to make it just a day trip and we usually take a number of rifles to test. We head up North when the temps get unbearable everywhere else, where it's in the high 70's and low 80's, very comfortable for extended range sessions.

The local range is fine but it has limits and some of the older members really don't appreciate some of the Boomers we shoot.

    Best.
