    You're a good man.

The person that hit my dog left him to die by himself in a ditch.[:(]

Red Heelers are good looking dogs but heelers are prone to chase cars.

Good for you...The animal receives the care it needs immediately...What is the owner doing to prevent a repeat?????

    Thanks to all.

The dog just made a mistake. She does not chase cars, I think the dogs across the road from where this dog lives were stirring the pot and she just didn't see me coming. As far as preventing it from happening again, well what do you do? She's a farm dog used to guarding the place and working cattle. Vet just called and said she's gonna be OK. Pisses me off that the vet had to call the owners and tell them how she is, as they never called to check on her. And I know this guy very well so I don't understand. Anyway, the vet says the dog is going to need some care for awhile so I'm thinking that we will take care of her untill she's healed up. It's the least I can do, not for them, but for the dog.

    Got Guns?

I told the vet I would pay all cost even though it's not my dog. He was quite suprised.

You're a good man, and I'm not surprised![;)]

You're a stand up guy for taking responsibility for the accident. Lots of folks in this "it's not my fault" world would have run off and pretended nothing happened.

    Glad it all worked out.

I hit my neighbor's dog a few yrs back. I felt so very bad. I had him loaded up and ready to go to the vet.....but he died before I even got out of the driveway. Weiner dogs and Ford Escapes should never meet. My neighbor was super sad...but understood I didn't see him there...in my driveway as I was backing up.

You may just have yourself a new dog when this is over. Especially if the dog takes up with you during the healing process and the owners are not concerned.

Your neighbor sure is acting funny. Maybe they wished the dog would have died? You're a good person.

    Good man, thanks for that!

I hit dog a few years ago on the highway. He would come out to chase every day that I went that way. I was pulling a trailer that day, wider than the truck. I always remeber to swerve when pulling a trailer and this situation occurs, but for some reason that day, I didn't think about it in time. It was that very last second that I remebered the trailer, and combined with that sinking sick feeling and then "thud".[V] I hit the brakes hard, backed up, ran back but he was gone to dog heaven. I thought, "At least he didn't suffer, you dumbass!" I scooped him up, headed towrds the house. Knocked on the door but noone was home. I thought, "how would I want this to come to me if this was my dog, my situation, and what if there are kids?" I walked out to the corner of the yard on the grass by the driveway so that they would see him when they came in the driveway, and I laid him down crled up, you know, like dogs do. I thought they might get the idea something was wrong if the dog didn't get up and maybe the adult would check it out before letting the kids at him. I didn't know what else to do. I felt like crap for weeks, and still do whenever I go by that house. Them people are never home.

Yer a better man than me.

We have this stupid dog my mother in law got. It's been ran over atleast 4 times. Whenever we pull up out of the driveway to the road this stupid dog runs in front of the car and walks across the road like it's hers.

One day there was a car coming from the left and the right.....I knew one of 'em had her.

The car coming from the right nailed the dog and all the wife and I heard was a "thud" as it hit the bumper spoiler of the car doing 30mph. I laughed. It was just so funny because this dog is the stupidest animal I've ever seen. I still wonder if it got thrown ahead or rode the bumper out for awhile.

When it was clear we pulled out of the driveway and low and behold that little ratmutt dog was running towards our driveway.....survived another hit.

I think the tard thinks it's a cat. That's atleast 4 lives down that I've witnessed. I'd never take it to a vet...and I've driven over it twice.[:p]

You can only kick a stupid animal out from under your loud Chevy truck so many times and expect it to have sense to move when the truck is rumbling and moving. Not even 35" tires will kill it.[:0]

Dogs are stupid. Kinda have the personality of white women.....maybe that's why I have no pity for them.

There's a little story that goes around from time to time. The short of it being that dogs don't live as long as humans because they already know more about love than most humans will ever learn. God doesn't have to tech them.

I have little doubt about a dog's ability to love and to teach. Love is unconditional and forgiveness total. Too bad most of us humans aren't able to comprehend.

Thank you for caring about a fellow traveler here on this earth. It's a comfort to know that there are those who care and have learned this lesson in life.

I'd do that, too, but one of my neighbors has an English Mastiff that came onto my property and killed one of my dogs and chewed the other one up ($220 vet bill). They didn't offer any help or apologies, so we now call their dog "dead dog walking". I'm just waiting to get a shot at him on my property.

Thanks for the UPDATE, guns.....[:)][:)] I was wondering if you had the kind of neighbor that would split the bill with you or might even insist on paying the whole thing. I've had neighbors that would sue you instead after all you have done. Good going.....[^][^]
