Dating a porn actress. Bad idea?

No, not me - another guy. It makes for a good psychological question, though. I don't personally know the guy but we may be doing some business together in the not so
distant future. Apparently, this is common knowledge in his round of friends and it's
causing some serious controversy.

I offer this thread to see what the GB'ers community opinion is on this topic - there are probably a few of you with some expertise in this area, no?.

Basically, what I'm asking is, even if she says shes committed to the guy who's with her in a relationship, is that even remotely possible considering what shes does for a living? It blows my mind that she can even think and have the guts to say it. Is this even possible???

    No expertise, really, only known a couple of strippers and a girl that I later found out did a porn movie -- very very unstable people, I would not want them around.

    Theoretically, I am sure it's possible and it's all doable, I wouldn't say all of the "adult industry workers" are completely insane, but just thinking of it, I don't even know where to start on what could be the causes of going into such a trade and what kind of impact it makes on psychology while in the trade.

    And it's quite different from what's in our society known as "swinging" or any sort of polyamorous lifestyles. I'd say porn is closer to prostitution than anything else with all consequences of it.

    Guess it depends really. I ran into a friend of mine from high school and he was dating a porn actress. It didn't seem to bother him all that much and she pretty much considered her profession as a day at the office. Didn't cheat on him (outside of her job requirements) and they seemed to have a more or less average relationship. Having said that I know I could not personally handle it and I don't know too many people who can. But if they can make it work, more power to them.

    Can't imagine what on earth I'd find attractive about that. Plus, I'd be concerned that every time we had sex she'd be reminding me that the ceiling needed painting.

    zip...you'd be doing business with the guy, not the girl...it shouldn't make a difference or cause any controversy if the guy is more than able to do the job in the manner you contract him to do. it seems that the parties involved are reacting with their personal feelings and attitudes or morals instead of using their business sense. if they truly have a problem with it and believe that it could cause reputational damage to the business, it would be wise to cut ties now instead of running damage control later.

    I think your acquaintance's head is bent, and I would be seriously leery of doing any business with him that wasn't nailed down tight, legally.

    as i have said before i ran a club with 90+ girls, some of who went on to bigger things, but most where no more unstable than any other woman, but most all had relationship problems, guys would be ok with it at first, but then jealousy set in, and they could not accept it any longer, the girls defense {and a legitimate one} this is what i was doing when we met, they accepted it then, few quit and got married but most didn't like the control and dumped them

    tell him to wrap that rascal, and hang on for the ride enjoy the memories

    Shoot, I dated a stripper all through college and for a couple of years afterward. She was more stable than other women I have known and had far less hangups. And not that I ever needed it, but it was a huge stroke of my ego to have guys pay to see what I was getting for free. She made more then than I do now, she always came home to me, and we never had any jealousy problems. Come to think of it, I don't really know what went wrong. Dammit, those were the days!![:D]

    What anyone does, certainly ain't none of MY business! I just haven't
    really given this much thought before.

    I've heard about ex-prostitutes making very good wives on occasion
    and, of course, seen the Julia Roberts, movie. I'm just not as familiar
    with porn stars - I suppose they are pretty much like everyone else,
    it's just a job.

    I am/was curious about the yahoos here - would anyone here even
    consider making a long term commitment once you know about her
    past/profession.

    Nope - no pics. I barely know the guy - more like I know of him - only met him
    once. He's a video editor and we discussed the situation after he left a lunch
    I was sharing with about six others.

    Not a big deal but interesting to tumble around in our heads.

    We all pretty much agreed that if we were about forty years younger and the AIDS
    problem wasn't a factor, as it was forty years ago .... maybe .... just maybe .... [:o)]

    I honestly don't know it/her - all I know is she's a knockout and a
    pretty savvy business woman, She bought her own million dollar
    home at 20 - apparently is going to give up the business when she
    is ready to go to college.

    I'm going to be one eighty out from everyone on this. I know I can have sex without love or attraction for a partner, especially if I was doing it for pay. Sex means nothing to me really, no more than shaking hands or going bowling with someone. It's merely a physical act.

    Love on the other hand is something you share with that special person with sex as an hors d'oeuvre. The mental sphere is where a relationship blooms. A cheat is a husband/wife making love with their spouse and thinking about someone else, even though they may never actually get physical with that person.
    Unfortunately, most people can't comprehend this and only understand what they can physically possess.

    If the actress says she is faithful to the fellow and actually is mentally, screwing LA county means zip to the relationship.

    Back in my old Biker days we had several strippers who hung around.
    Porn Stars generally tend to start out as strippers.
    I agree w/whoever said that these women tend to be unstable.And almost always have very little respect for men or self respect. They'll steal you blind if your aren't carefull. But our motto was: Date a stripper? You bet!

    What do you mean by "porn actress"? There's a huge difference between someone who has done 2 or 3 movies in the amateur porn industry and someone who has really "made it" and has a truly business-like mindset. Few "porn stars" actually make much money. The ones you actually hear about are the exception to the rule. If he's not dating Jenna or someone of Jenna's caliber then I would worry about all of the other problems that he could bring to the table depending on how serious he is about her or how weak he is to her manipulations (drugs, money problems etc).

    Well, that USED to be the rule - you'd be surprised now - I certainly was. They pretty much all have agents and financial advisors. The ones sharp enough to reinvest their money - which many do now - into the porn industry get a fast/big return on their money. In Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley it's a 14 BILLION (or more) dollar a year industry. Every studio has a working satellite production company - although they are very well placed in 'blind holding companies' - the drugged out and sick women are no longer tolerated - the market increases every year - distribution networks are expanding heavily in Asia.

    It's a changing world ... but as usual money talks and big dogs eat first!
