No, not me - another guy. It makes for a good psychological question, though. I don't personally know the guy but we may be doing some business together in the not so
distant future. Apparently, this is common knowledge in his round of friends and it's
causing some serious controversy.
I offer this thread to see what the GB'ers community opinion is on this topic - there are probably a few of you with some expertise in this area, no?.
Basically, what I'm asking is, even if she says shes committed to the guy who's with her in a relationship, is that even remotely possible considering what shes does for a living? It blows my mind that she can even think and have the guts to say it. Is this even possible???

I read somewhere that the standard rate for a female porn movie performance is $5K. Not sure if per movie or scene. But it implied that this amount could be made for 1 days work.
I'm sure "big name stars" probably get more.
And from the same article, it said that male actors make substantially less.

About twelve years ago a guy I worked with asked me if I would go over with him to a movie that showed porn. I asked her if she had ever played opposite John Holmes and she said she made two films with him and he was a perfect gentleman, except he had a little trouble getting ready to perform. As I remember, he later had a penile implant installed.

I think the cause of his death hasn't been widely talked about so I have no idea. I had heard that he was mixed up with organized crime but don't know if that had anything to do with his death. 0 -
Yes just looked it up on Google. He suffered from AIDS induced encephylitis and swelling of the brain. He had to stand trial for murder before this when two of his friends were severely beaten and one died. He told of the jailers taking him to the shower and watching him while he bathed and looking at him with "envious glances." Whatever that means. 0 -

spoken to up in LA lately did a rather professional documentary on
Holmes: John Holmes: The Man, the Myth, the Legend - directed by
David Wald (although that's not really his real name).
'John' was one of the nicest guys that you could meet - so I am told - but was
brought down by drugs, alcohol, and too much fame to quickly. His first film
Johnny Wadd was responsible for opening up the adult sex market in the early
70's. Prior to that the police were still chasing porn stars and film crews all over
and tossing them in the can as just a harassment technique. Holmes (for some
reason) 'legitimised' the industry - and it's been growing experientially yearly
ever since! John did die of AIDS - one of the early deaths but probably wouldn't
have survived much longer because of the drug(s) and alcohol abuse. I guess he
was an emotional and physical wreck.
Holmes died of AIDS in a Los Angeles veterans nursing home, on March 13, 1988,
at 43.
Interesting little subculture - but out of this geezer grampa's league.

First it's non of your business if you know the guy on a "business" level.
However, if you choose to make it your business and you want to take the self proclaimed moral high road, ditch the guy as far as business transactions are concerned (because no matter who he is, he's replaceable) and keep him as a friend if he already was one, because it's none of your damn business if he screws his life up.0 -

both are groping for something lacking in their lives. thus they date. both are looking for stability in the other. thus, they retreat to an attempt at normal life with boundaries and structure. unfortunatley, when the alarm clock goes off, and its time to go to work, they fall back into non reality and become consumed by their passion and the world. sad indeed.

I may try to get that documentary on John Holmes. Strange about his first movie being Johnny Wadd. I hadn't heard that term used since a woman I worked with asked me once that if I ever was in the mens room with a guy in the department to look and see if "that big wad is real." I knew the guy and knew it was a truss he wore for a small rupture. I never told her one way or the other.0 -
Well, actually he was the first to use that name - Wadd. It made him famous
worldwide. I met and had lunch with the maker of that documentary - up
at Jerry's in Marina Del Rey (for you movie buffs). He has his feet planted
firmly in both worlds of film/video. If you do get the documentary, I think
you'll find it interesting - especially the murder trial. Seems that Holmes
let the hit men into an apartment and then fled - I believe two were hit and
killed - it was a HUGE murder trial up in LA at the time. he ran with some
very bad hombres!

Holmes and I have crossed paths a couple times without actually meeting. A dipstick I knew named Charley had a quirk about going in to the Post Office and going thru the waste paper baskets and looking for porn material that had been thrown away. One day he found some pictures of Holmes in undress. Holmes and I did bear a resemblance, facially that is and about the same height and weight.
Charley and I both belonged to the Playboy Club and I stopped for Happy Hour one day, the waitresses looked at me and giggled, one said she didn't know I was a celebrity. Later I found that Charley had possed these photos around and told them it was me.0 -
