Toyota Tacoma or Nissan Frontier?
Anyone have any input?Mom and Dad are getting to the point that the suburban is too big,And drinks too much gas. They dont haul to much anymore,Groceries,Small Home Depot runs etc.I was told to look at both and return with my findings.I like the nissan(V-6).Havent driven the toyota yet.

My cousin just bought the toyota 4wd off-road package. I think it's a real nice truck. I would rather have the toyota, just not a big nissan fan. 0 -
P.S. Go drive the toyota.[:D] 0 -
Both are nice little trucks. Mainly depends on personal preference. Dad has a Nissan Titan (I know it's not the same thing, but...) and he loves it. Has nearly 90,000 miles on it and has had no problem. Last vehicle my grand-dad had was a 1990 Nissan p/u. When he died it had 120k and still going strong. I've been looking for a new(er) truck to replace my Jeep and have also been looking at both. Used prices are outrageous!!! 0 -
Tacoma hands down. 0 -
You cant get a deal here either,I figure out what I want then go to dallas(3 1/2 hour drive-one way) or grapevine tx. to do my deal. 0 -
I've owned both brands, and I think Nissan is a little better.

I rarely see frontiers driving around, more toyotas. think about the availability of used parts.
on the other hand, last time I went with someone looking at a new car, I noticed the ergonomics on nissans (cars) were good, but the toyotas were awful. felt like everything was in the wrong place or even awkward to use. I think that's a major consideration.0 -
9 out of 10 Nissan Frontier owners all say the same thing: "Why is the parking at Melissa Etheridge concerts so damn expensive?" 0 -
Go with the toyota. Just look at resell they hold their value 0 -

For what it's worth carpoint/consumer reports gives the Nissan a higher rating.
Also with the Nissan you get more horsepower and better ergonomics than a TOYota (well, just about everything has better ergonomics than Toyotas [:D])0 -
Depends on what it's being used for. If I wanted a tough truck that would last forever I'd go with Toyota. Then agian I'm looking for a tough truck to be used like a truck should be used not just a city driver.

at least the French never bombed any harbors owned by the US!
Or murdered POWs for that matter.
And they don't teach that the war was a "mutual misunderstanding" in their schools0 -

You ladies better get over your pre-New Deal mentality. Nevermind that Chrysler is teamed up with the killers of 8 million Jews, that Ford has been in bed with the Pearl Harbor bombers for decades, that GM is partnered with the mass murderers of Bataan and Corregidor, and that we as a nation have a trade deficit with a nation who supplied arms and munitions to both North Korea and North Vietnam. But hey, everybody knows SIG and H&K are crap and Steyr and Glock come from Hitler's birthplace. I say picket all of the meanies!
Uh, right?0 -

you don't get it:
lately I hear a lot of crap about the froggies, and it is usually from the same people who play cheerleader for Toyota.
The French may disagree with us, but they were our friends a lot more times than our enemies, in fact I can't recall when they were against us in a shooting war. See the irony yet???0 -
Depending on there needs they might not even need a truck. An good mini van will have the room they love with the suburban and get better gas milage than eather of the trucks you mention. I avarage 27 MPG with my Chevy Venture and the rear hatch has a larger opening than my dads suburban far hauling the big stuff. 0 -

You don't get it. What friggin' difference does it make? See the non-irony yet?0 -

Yeah, I know.I went fron racing a Super Comp Dragster and driving a 500HP Camaro to being my kids taxi in a minivan, and you know what...
I like to drive the darn thing, especally when I beat some kid and his noisy honda at the stop light drags, at the next light I'll yell out "man, you car is slow, you just got beat by a minivan."[:p]0 -
Toyota, without a doubt. 0 -
How about something real inovative here,,,,, BUY AMERICAN 0 -
I have had my Toyota Tacoma since 96, never did a damm thing to it till it had 96,000 miles then I replaced the starter!!!
It now has 129,000 and still running strong, never had a tie rod end, ball joint or any front end part go bad!!! Try that with an American made truck!!!
Can't speak for the Nissan's but you can't go wrong with a Toyota in my opinion!!![:D]0 -
toyotas hold their value very well, plus have you seen the tacoma commercials?! theyre amazing, 10,000 pounds to dead stop down hill and didnt even go off the bridge. IDK if its real or not but its impressive. Also, i like the mini van idea, if thyre really not hauling anything why not? The Honda Odyssey i hear is great. 0 -
Definitely Toyota. 0 -

Dunno bout the Nissan but the Toyota was probably built in Ky. or Wv.! By American Workers! Who spend their paychecks in America!
Come to think on it. Given the quality control that the "big three" has had lately. You might be better off with the Nissan! [B)]
