What is best for home defense? I have a AR-15 Bushmaster M4 and a Remington 870 .12 Gauge Express Magnum Folder in bedroom. What would you grab first if someone was breaking in your house?

    Ok....Of the choices I have, what would be your first pick for primary home defense weapon and why?:

    1. Benelli Nova (tac version)
    2. Ruger P944T (.40 cal)
    3. Mossberg 930 SPX
    4. Springfield XD45

    my father is thinking of picking up a semi auto pistol in 45 acp for home defense. hes considerign 2 pistols primarily. the 1911 in various makes and the springfield armory xd. which would you recomend and why? he doesnt know much about either and is leaning twords the 1911 primarily because of its military background. i would be apt to go with the xd but thats just me. what say you?

    I'm debating between a .50 BMG, .577 NE and .700 NE for a home defense weapon. Not concerned about my neighbors because they are all crack pushers. I like the Barrett semi auto for the 10 round mag.

    Any recommendations?

    A Durham County NC homeowner shot three people trying to break into his house Friday morning, according to the sheriff's office.

    Lt. Stan Harris said that calls about a break-in in progress and gunshots fired in a house at 1017 Hamilton Way in the southern part of the county around 10:30 a.m.

    Deputies apprehended one suspect who had been shot at the scene, he said. Two other suspects, who were also wounded, fled the scene but were taken into custody when they showed up at a local hospital.

    The homeowner, who was home alone at the time, was not hurt.

    Harris said that the break-in was random and that the homeowner did not know the suspects. The area has experienced a recent series of break-ins, but it wasn't immediately clear if these suspects were connected to it.

    Maybe the break-in rate will drop some now. I think the homeowner needs to spend some more time at the range.

    I'd have to say the 12-gauge,
    with some (bad) luck the AR is likely to penetrate a couple connecting walls, your house's outside walls, the neighbor's walls, and then hit the neighbor's kid [xx(]

    Can't beat a 12 gauge for close quarters smackdown/devastation. Might be able to beat it with a 10 gauge? You get the point, shotguns at close range outshine anything in my opinion.

    I have a perimeter of claymore mines with motion sensor triggers and a battery of 120mm howitzers for my home defense. I do believe this to be severly lacking, so I'm in the process of digging a mote in which I will place alligators and piranhas just in case.

    I'd use the twelve gauge first!. after pumping a few rounds of "00" into there knee caps...severing there legs in two, from the knee-caps down. I would then walk over to the stereo and crank up some metallica! And while they were trying to crawl for the front door, I'd then proceed to pick up there legs and start beating them with eachothers leg! After the beatings, that's when I'd pull out the cold steel. [}:)] Okay time to wake up![:D]

    How would one explain in a court of law the concept of self defense using an AR-15?

    I'd stick to a Mossberg 590 loaded with 00 buckshot against burglars and save the rifles for zombies.

    Up close and personal a shotgun will do away with anything you want gone.A hit with 00 or 000 buck is devestating.Stick with the shotgun.

    First off they would have a difficult task to get by 3 trained Dobermans and a natural follower Boxer. Then if they can breech one of the doors. yap I would grab my Mossberg 590DA with 9 RDs no. 4 Buck and four more in the stock.

    With all due respect you must be new to the mind set of the gun grabbing liberalist. They don't just stop at a court room door.
    Remember the man who used a 10mm in the woods. The courts argument was 10mm is a man killer, so he must have just been looking to kill someone that day.
