New 45 UPDATE!!!
Ok here goes. I have approx $700.00 to spend on a new .45 I want a compact commander size 1911. I perfer the alloy frame (read lightweight). Standard mags. Any suggestions? [;)] SEE BELOW FOR PHOTOS OF NEW 45

I've been looking for a Colt Double Eagle in 9mm for quite some time. Just get a gun that fits and can be shot accurately. My experience with low cost guns is that they shoot like low cost guns. Accuracy does come with a price. Have you ever considered carrying a revolver in .357? Come on down and I will show you what a 3" barrel can do ? 0 -
My 1st CCW gun was a 2" revolver, I have shot many many 357's and the like, my favorite 357 is the Ruger SP101 or GP100, built like tanks and accurate as hell. I perfer the flat sides of a 1911, it is more comfortable than the cylinder of a revolver. quote:Originally posted by select-fire

...just bought a Taurus PT145 Millinum for $225. Double action only and the trigger is smooth. They have a 10 round mag.

Good move, you won't be sorry. My Kimber custom compact cost less than $600 and its one of the best shooters that I have. It is/was the least expensive of the Kimber line. Guy at the gun shop told me they all shoot match quality regardless of the pricing.0 -
Here is my Kimber Pro Carry in .40 S&W, my Kimber Pro CDP .45, and my Colt Lightweight. I love 'em all for different reasons, but I gotta say, I have a soft spot for the Ponies!!! 0 -
I have one of the Kimber CDP's with all the bells and whistles. Its a nice shooter also but shoots to the left and I need to slide the rear sight over a bit. How the heck do you do that. I tried with a brass punch, loosened the set screw and it won't budge??? 0
