Nixon ended the draft the year I became eligible.
I have the utmost respect for those who served, especially for the one's who didn't come back.

Just curious to know how many on this forum have served in the US Armed Forces, or have or have had family that has served or is currently serving?
    Allot I'm guessing.
I myself have never had that honor.
My dad was a two tour Marine in Vietnam, and my brother is a Marine serving currently in Iraq.
Just curious, but I bet numbers show, most all here talking on this post have a hard earned stake in this country.

Awww cummon man,,,wouldn't that be EVERY ONE?

I was raised by a strict NAVY officer who served two tours in Vietnam. I'm proud to have him as my Father. He raised us kids right!

My father did, (they are Amish before dad) I did, my wife retired after 23 years at E-8 from the AF and when my daughters reach the age, it will certainly be an option we will not discourage.

Haven't served myself. My grandpa was served during Korea in the Navy. My dad served in the Army during the Vietnam era. He never fought overseas; enlisted and stayed stateside. Several of my uncles have served in the Air Force between Vietnam and Desert Storm.

THANK YOU to all on here who have served. I'm enjoying the freedoms you all have fought for.
