I know this guy that had one.He said its all in how you raise them.5 months later the cops put a round thru its head,It was attacking the neighbor.Its in there blood.They cant help it.If you saw my past reply of a couple of pointer puppies you will notice them doing just what they were bread for....Pointing(Look close theres a quail wing on a string).the dogs are only a few months old if I remember,with NO training.Its in the blood man. 0 -

I like the way a adult brindle pit looks, however I just don't trust them around my kids. I have had Rottys my entire life and they make excellent family dogs and I'm satified. 0 -
I can't say I would ever have one either....not that I am completely sold on the idea that they are inherently bad...but I just wouldn't ever take that kind of chance with my kids. There are just WAY too many awesome breeds to choose from without taking any chances at all with a pit bull.
Not that my Purdita puts up with ANY crap from these kids...and they have all learned to leave her alone. She doesn't like to "play" but will let you rub her ears.0 -

I had a pit - Staffordshire Terrier - named "Target" for a while. Smartest, most loyal, and funniest dog I've ever had.
Had to get rid of him when he tried to eat the horses and other dogs.
I was scared for my Daughters' friends.
Got rid of him.
A sad day.

My father shot a small black poodle named "Jack"...I was young and I never knew what he did...but I do know he had to go. For years I remembered him because of the door to the basement (it was clawed to heck and back!) I found out years later he had bit my brother. None of us were home when he "parted" from the family....none of us missed him really either. 0 -
Yeah - like I said somewhere else (another post), my son's
nice, black, puppy raised pit - Onyx, was his name - tried
to eat the letter carrier one day.
No more mail delivered ... until no more Onyx.
Mail has been delivered every day since then.

i was getting on the interstate years ago and a homeless guy with everything he owned slung over his shoulder was walking with a pit . no body was gonna mess with either one. the purest bred dog there is www.adba.cc 0 -
I've had a few friends tell me that they were wonderful pets, good with kids and all that.
I still wouldn't own one. Or an Akita, for that matter.
Funny how watching your child grow up has that effect on ya.
My uncle is a retired veterinarian who now writes books on dog and cat breeds. I'll check with him about dog breeds when it comes time for us to get one.0 -

My rotty on the other hand was great with the kids and loved everyone. Never had a single problem with that dog,...smart and loyal, and let anyone putting off that "aire" of something fishy were let know in no uncertain terms that he had his eyes on you.
When my son was born, he instinctively left from sleeping at my feet beside the bed, to sleeping at the foot of the crib. Instinct told him that the small member of the pack was his first priority. Beautiful and loyal as well as inteligent.0 -

Dont think that any of you are the first ones to tell me that pits are evil and they kill babies and etc. This dog was adopted with the idea of making it a lapdog. First off, I do not have kids. Second, The majority of pit owners are thugs and morons that spend very little time with them and the time they do spend is meant to make the dog mean or hard. I am not trying to train this dog to be a badass or to complete any type of image I am seeking. I decided to give a home to a pup that needed one. I dont know how much you guys spend in animal shelters but they are scarce of purebred Rott or Pointer puppies. In fact the majority of dogs in shelters are "mutts" with Pitbull in them. 0 -

A vet once told me that a pit bulls brain never quits growing. When the skull stops growing the brain continues to grow and pressure builds driving those nice little pets mad. Any truth to that, I dont know. 0 -
MYTH: Pit Bulls brains swell/never stop growing.
This rumor started with the Doberman, and has since been said about game-bred dogs in general. The concept of an animal's brain swelling or growing too large and somehow causing the animal to "go crazy" is not based in truth in any way.
Their brains grow at the same rate as any other dog, and the only time that a Pit Bull's brain is going to swell is if it receives a serious injury. If an animal's brain were to grow too big for its head, the animal would die.0
