Do you have an interesting job?
Just curious. I test turbine engines for a living. It is interesting and challenging. Side line buying and selling guns and accessories at gunshows.[:)][?]

I have worked in the constuction industry for the last 12yrs
started out as a laborer for a concrete construction company.
we build freeway over passes. damms water storage tanks. did footings and foundations for everything.
I went to school to become a CAD operator. and had planned on working for the same counstruction company but in the office doing shop drawings bid work ect. that fell through after graduating.
I took another labor job with a steel erection company. We erected metal buildings and other structural steel. I got good at it and with a back ground in CAD,I quickly moved up the ladder to forman. ran my own jobs and crews for 4-5 yrs.
When the crews got harder and harder to manage. due to many reasons ie drug use lack of own transportation. Also the companies lack of usable equipment and tools took it toll on my enthusiasm. Plain idiocy of the owner and the idios he chose to hire mainly. I got tired of it and hit the road.
I landed in a fab shop making orimental hand rail and other trinkets. It was ok,
I got a call from a former roomate that had a CAD position available. after almost 10yrs of not doing it I took the job and have been here 3 yrs and like it (most of the time). there are days I want to be outside but overall it's Good and as been great for the marriage.0 -
I'm a cowboy, on a steel horse I ride. I'm wanted, dead or alive.
Customers don't a give a damn what a trucker goes thru to deliver. All they care about is that he's on time. It can get pretty intense and interesting.0 -
I used to have an interesting job.
I worked at a hot air balloon factory.
We were an FAA registered aircraft plant, and there were four employees, counting the boss!
In the summer my work uniform was gym shorts, I didn't even wear shoes.
Man, that was a low stress life!
I got pretty good on the sewing machine. We had these big Jap sewing machines with double needles, I think there are 5 miles of sewing thread in a hot air balloon.
I also worked on baskets. I didn't build them, we had a guy who subcontracted building baskets.
I would get the rough basket, it has a 3/4 inch plywood floor and the sides are rattan.
I would stain the plywood dark brown, and then spray the whole thing with lacquer, 3 coats. Then I would fit the basket with propane tanks, propane lines, and the top of the basket, I put this black soft foam one inch pipe insulation on it, and then covered it with dark brown leather, stitched to the rattan with rawhide strips. Those damn baskets looked good!
And, when we completed a balloon, which was about every two weeks, we had to take it out and test fly it, FAA regs! So that was fun.0 -

Farming. Up early and working on everything from tractors to blowers. Doing electrical and plumbing and irrigation. I have to be a mechanic, welder, fabricator and accountant. Everyday is an adventure. I have been here almost 14 years. I hate it and I love it. Don 0 -

I sit at a desk in the basement of a hospital building and watch up to 32 heartbeats at once. I take measurements and hopefully am able to warn nurses and other health care professionals of impending cardiac problems before the become life threatening medical emergencies.
Not sure if I'd want someone with the name BUZZARD watching to see if my heart stopped beating.[:0]0 -
I sell tractors and comercial lawn equipment. This time of year that means I go to work, sit at my desk and wait until 5. In another month, Katy bar the door! 0 -

No problem Tobefree.
Anyways I'm looking for a new job. The corruption in this corporation is so bad it is causing physical harm to my body and loss of sleep at night.
Right now there is a plane in the air that may not reach it's destination and crash into the sea because of a serious error with weights and improperly putting the right numbers in the computer. My hat is off to the contracted airline pilot for getting the bird off the ground.....he must have had the stick all the way to the left to keep it level for take off.
We have a rash of people in this corporation leaving their blue suits and joining the US Army. Yes it's that bad.0 -

What do I get if I bring my own gun?0 -
I buy, sell, and repair used heavy equipment (mostly forklifts). It's a feast or famine business. Repairing others' equipment can be quite an experience. Nothing worse than fixing something that some jack leg mechanic want-to-be tried to fix but realized he didn't know what he was doing. When they finally break down and bring it to me, I charge them out the ass. It's a challenge, but I like it I guess. I have a great customer base and most of them are really good people. 0 -

Saturday I get to drill two holes through the bottom of a glass furnace. Over 300 tons of glass at 2350 degrees above me, and we are going to drill through the floor.
Hopefully it doesn't leak.
It's just not natural to drill a hole in the furnace floor.
We're putting a "bubbler" in it. Basically it is a straw plugged in to the compressed air line. The slow producing bubble mixes the glass and keeps it cold glass from collecting on the bottom and freezing when we are not pulling glass from the the furnace.
Hope I don't puke from the heat. I did last time we put a new thermalcouple in the furnace floor. It's going to be a long week.0 -

I have been a welder for 26 years now. Now I am learning the Lost art of old world blacksmithing and forging. (Not that cast made in china Junk)
Its a challenge to build a stair case hand rails that have been 100% forged, Then bending a 1/2" thick solid bronze cap flawlessly to match the radius and stair pitch perfectly.
But then, thats why we charge $800 a foot for the nice stuff.0 -
