I am retiring today ...
... from the USAF after 20 years and 5 months - a career filled with lots of challenges, opportunities, and job satisfaction. It's a duty and honor that I will always treasure the rest of my life. The ceremony is today but the official retirement date is 1 Sep 2007. [^][^][^].

Thank you for serving our country.

Thank You for your service!!! I've got a lotta respect for you. My daughter is just started on that path - just finished her specialty training and has gone to her first assignment.
Now, go get a job and start on your second retirement right away!!!
I am sure your AF past prepped you for a good civilian job.
With Luck, it will be a Gov't job/Municipal Job that will vest in five or ten years.
Then you can maybe start another (private) Career while working at the Gov't job...and then you will ultimately end up with an AF retirement Check, a Muni retirement check, a Private retirement check, AND Social Security...at least that is what a bunch of the retired Military Pilots I eat breakfast with every Wednesday have done - I'm jealous!
Thanks again, and Good Luck!0 -
FEENIX, now your life really begins huh!,fishing, hunting, traveling to name a few, enjoy it man you deserve it,but most important, thanks for serving for 20 yrs,you should be proud! good luck,Loko[:D][8D] 0 -

Thanks and good luck to your daughter.
I actually already have a job lined-up. Due to major DoD restructuring, senior leadership converted my position into a civilian authorization. I start that same job on 10 Jul as a NSPS YA-2 (GS-11) - an excellent start, esp in this neck of the woods. [^]
Thanks again.0 -

what took you so long?
sounds like youre using up that extra vacation time before retirement if the actual date is in sept..
enjoy the shock of dealing with civilians. im still in shock of not having people that care or help at the drop of a hat.
and your stripes mean nothing anymore.
its bucks.
good luck.[^]0 -

Congratulations and thanks for serving. Good luck in your next/same career! 0 -
Oh boy are you gonna be pleased you did that. I bagged it with 20 years in 1980, worked for a DOE contractor for 27 more and I'm now retired again, netting more per month than I made working, 100 percent medical, (between Medicare and Tricare), cheap prescriptions,
COLA on two retirements---life is good.
When you reach the minimum age requirement, go see social security and your HR retirement planner and see where you are. I didn't, and WASTED three years I didn't need to.
Thanks for your service---you've earned the pay.

Congratulations!!!! I retired from the US Navy 15 years ago after 23 years of service. Your accomplishment is a great one. You should be very proud, and don't feel bad about shedding a few tears at your ceremony!!
God Bless and good luck[:)][:)]0 -
Congrats!
Get into something else FAST, or prepare to put on a few pounds.
I retired last Sept-put on 19lbs over the winter , got 10 of them back off now. But I had to work at it some-still working at the other and a few more.0 -
Congratulations FEENIX. I did the same on Sep 1, 1977, so I beat you by thirty years.. 0 -
