It is sad that one can not pick up a stupid cap gun and play cowboys and indians without everyone flipping out.
What the hell has happened to the "Common Sense" in this country. People are losing touch with reality, in my opinion.
No difference with the pellet guns that teens like to pull out to scare folks. Robbers now use them for knocking off your friendly 7-11 store since the average bannana working the counter thinks anything that looks like a gun must be a fully automatic assualt pistol! i do not understand how some of you fail to see the difference of a grown up doing this to a kindergarten class, and a few kids playing cops and robbers, and criticising the staff for not knowing the difference ether, they obviously figured it out , and how many people do you think have been shot by police officers by brandishing something that is not even close to resemblance of a firearm?
cops recently killed a kid for holding a playstation controller, some on this board was all over it, as if the kid was wrong for holding it0 -

On January 30, 1934, the notorious John Dillinger was captured in Tucson, Arizona. Due to a bank robbery in Chicago, which resulted in a murdered police officer, Lake County gained priority to Dillinger. Held in the Lake County Jail in Crown Point, Indiana, Dillinger planned his fantastic escape.
While incarcerated in the Lake County Jail, Dillinger carved a gun from a wooden washboard or a bar of soap (local legend varies), and stained the fake gun with black shoe polish. The escape occurred during the early hours of March 3, 1934. The prop was soon replaced by an automatic gun which Dillinger took from a guard. Soon after, hostages were taken but later released in the get- away to nearby Illinois. You people are acting like this was a seven year old kid that pulled the gun, it was a freaking adult...Odds of it being a cap gun a million to one...Maybe you want wait till you get a clear view of the gun to determine if it is real or not, but me, ain't no freaking way I am going wait to see if an adult has a freaking cap gun or a real one in a classroom....cause if I'm in a classroom where there are a bunch of kids, more than likely one of them is very special to me....nope I'd have dropped her like a hot potato... of course that is assuming that I had a gun, which I believe the law currently states "only bad gays can carry a gun in a school"

I don't think she deserves jail time. An act this stupid deserves some sort of shameful punishment like a public flogging, or maybe we should bring back those wood blocks with three holes in them that held the person in place while the townspeople threw garbage at them. If my actions - no matter my intent or purpose - lead you to believe that your life or well-being are actually in grave danger, then yes, I have most definitely broken a law. Beyond that, this mother may have actually been trespassing during specified school hours.
But more important than that, her actions beg the question "Why would an individual, presumably sane up to that point in time and a mother of a kindergarten child, do something so reckless, potentially dangerous and grossly inconsiderate?"
One poster already pointed out that she might have been shot had there been an armed security guard in the hall nearby. FWIW and IMO, her entire life was ruined by that one stupid action. And, despite any jail time, monetary fines and community service, that state's Child Services Agency will most definitely be zeroing in on her regularly, if she is even out of jail and deemed to be emotionally and mentally competent by the courts of raising her own child(ren).
IMO, this was one of the more stupid and thoughtless acts for a parent to commit.0 -

220ackley, if you truly don't believe that any law was broken by this woman, all well and good, but then why not research it a bit further and prove me wrong?
For starters, why not Google menacing and see how our legal system defines the various types and degrees of it AND how it applies - as it relates to this incident - to pointing a fake gun at someone who as a result believes that his or her life is in imminent and grave danger?
Her actions were not only stupid, they were criminal in nature and she should pay a hefty price for her very bad judgement, especially when little children are concerned. That's just my opinion and it's perfectly okay if we agree to disagree on it.
BTW, welcome to GB. I hope you enjoy it here and post often. Lots of really terrific folks here for sure.[^]0 -
