Argh!! D#^$ FFL Dealers!
At least mine anyway, They couldn't get the rifle I wanted but I found someone who can. THe guy acted like a total jerk when I requested an FFL transfer. He then tells me the normal charge of $30.00 is for curios and relics and modern production rifles have A $50.00 transfer fee. I've had two Ak's tranfered their before and it only cost $30.00, and this guy is not the manager(he wasn't there).Do you guys think he is talkin' crap?I think its bull. Is that a standard practice for FFL dealers?

Mine only has an $8 handling fee for handguns...your FFL is an a-hole. 0 -
I agree, Although I enjoy living in B.F.E., He's the only one around. To drive to another I'd have to spend 20 bucks on the Chesapeake Bay-Bridge tunnel plus gas so I might as well get it from him and save the day from being shot.

Ahhh, Just a thought here....Why don't you get your own C&R license. It costs 30 bucks for three years... no need for fees then.0 -
+1 BPost. I pay my ffl $25 and $5 of that is a tip. $25 is what the other guys were charging me 15 years ago. Go back and talk to the owner or manager. 0 -
Mine charges $10. [:D] Just the benefit of living in a gun friendly, mostly rural state...and being friends with a home-based gun dealer who ONLY sells on-line. 0 -
Last time I had one transfered it cost me $10. My local gun supplier had no problem with the transfer either, he understands that he doesn't have "everything" I'm looking for, but knows that the stuff he does have, I will buy from him.

...$45-$55 bucks around here, I dont use those people. I found a nice gentleman that lives pretty close and a transfer is only $10 bucks..and he's friendly.
Get your 03, simple and cheap, and at rip off prices of $50 bucks or more, one transfer, and your ahead...[;)]

There are two shops around here. They both charge $100.00 per gun for transfers, and that is for new or used guns. That is why I use a private FFL who only does transfers, out of his house. 0 -

You are right. The guy I use is part-time. Buys and sells guns exclusively on-line. Most of these are guns he is able to buy at the KY State Police auction. Most are junk, some are really nice, but then he will order whatever you want. But I have never "gotten" the attitude of the store front guys charging an arm and a leg. Almost exclusively, the guns I buy on-line are used, and my store front dealer doesn't have what I bought. Why charge so much for what is basically "found money?" The previous store front I would use for transfers, the last time I used him, he bit@hed and moaned about how much paperwork it took and how much time it took to do a simple transfer. Bull snot! 10 minutes and he had his $25 and I was out the door.0 -
One of the FFLs that I use has a storefront business. I never ask the $$$, just will he accept delivery for me. He always seems glad to help. Many times, he charges me nothing. Other times maybe $20.00. But I buy a lot from him -- guns, scopes, etc. Last year in one transaction I purchased five guns from him. Therefore, my situation may not reflect what you may encounter. 0 -
Mine costs $20 flat. He has no problems doing any transfers. Forget the jerk and go on a road trip. 0 -

For a lousy $200.00, finger prints, paperwork, a business license, a place to do business you could get your own FFL. Sure beats the heck out of paying that high price of $50 for a transfer.0 -
Id be looking for another FFL, $50 is a little steep!!! My dealer does it for $10 if I buy the gun there, $25 if I buy it elsewhere and have it shipped to him. 0 -

My FFL charges $30 with no attitude.
We have a great relationship, so much so that he has given me permission to copy his signed FFL for me to fax whenever I buy.
He promptly calls me on my cell whenever a package arrives.0 -
$15 from the friendly dealers. The a-holes want $50+. They won't get my bidness. I don't pay for attitude, but they will because I won't give or send them bidness. My guy at the reloading shop that I frequent will get all that I can give him. 0 -

I try and support several gun shops, or used to, now only 2.
$50 bucks with a store front or not is absurd for a few minutes of paper work. I have no problem with people making LOTS of money, but dont pizz, or rip me off or you will no longer get my buisness.
The one gun shop I stopped spending ANY money at had gotten about $6,000+ from me in less than 2 years (guns alone, probably another $3,000 in assorted accessaries) I knew everyone there very well.
Last time I went in was to buy a Colt Gold Cup they had gotten in the day before, they always called when they got a gun in they knew I was looking for.
I stood and waited 15 minutes while 4 employees (that knew me)were getting their chain yanked by first time new customers...that were looking at guns a third of the price of what I was trying my best to buy.
Yes, it was obvious the new customers were window shopping, I heard their questions to the guys.
After finally acknowedging that I was there and alive by nods, I waited another 15 or so minutes for a total of over half an hour, and no service!
They all KNOW I have my CHL, so no NICS, short and sweet, 10 minutes in and out.
.. The month before they had screwed me up by sending an expired 01 to a seller from whom I was buying a rifle from, AFTER they told me their 01 had expired and they'd send the extra paper that covered them until their current 01 arrived...they didn't. THAT, was a BIG mess, and I almost lost the rifle. I was never rude thru THAT whole mess they caused...they finally sent the guy the right paper work, and they got my $45 transfer fee.
... I know I did not keep their doors open with my spending, but I know for a fact they wonder where Ive been...we all know some of the same people, and they do miss my little money, and they will never see another penny of it, ever.
I'll go a long ways, especially with a smith or gun store, the more around the better we all are, but BS is BS...and $50+ bucks for a simple transfer is BS...along with treating a good customer like crap[;)]0 -
My FFL charges nothing. The ONLY item left for him to fill out the paperwork is two signatures. I fill everything else out, show my current firearm card & driver's licencse, and we are done.
But, I will be handing him a crisp couple of 20's this time....just because.0 -

I' ve got the paperwork for the C&R, just haven't sent it off yet, However this one wouldn't qualify for that.(AR6721). Thanks wipala, I see one on that list who I will Give a call to. The first dealer on the list is the one that I am talking about and it says right there it's only 30 bucks. the other one that is close by is no longer in business, I tried contacting Him before.
I understand Small business trying to make a living, and I don't mind supporting them, but there is a difference when they think they got you over a barrel and are trying to gouge you.0
