Argh!! D#^$ FFL Dealers!
At least mine anyway, They couldn't get the rifle I wanted but I found someone who can. THe guy acted like a total jerk when I requested an FFL transfer. He then tells me the normal charge of $30.00 is for curios and relics and modern production rifles have A $50.00 transfer fee. I've had two Ak's tranfered their before and it only cost $30.00, and this guy is not the manager(he wasn't there).Do you guys think he is talkin' crap?I think its bull. Is that a standard practice for FFL dealers?

Your dealer charges you for the NCIS check if you buy the gun from him? Sounds to me like you are getting screwed! How can he charge you for something like that if you buy the gun FROM HIM?!0 -

For a lousy $200.00, finger prints, paperwork, a business license, a place to do business you could get your own FFL. Sure beats the heck out of paying that high price of $50 for a transfer.

200, fingerprints, paperwork, is easy, however some municipalities CLEO refuse to sign and some areas make zoning difficult, also my expierence with old ATF was if you didn't have a retail location they were not interested in getting you a license, maybe today's BATF is more aware of on line dealing now. But still it is easier for me to use a very nice gentleman who was listed on GB and does my transfers for 20. My local gun dealer will never get another dime of mine because he charges outrageuos prices.0 -
Guys that I see their face alot in my shop I charge ZERO ... 0 -
i have to ask this question to you ffl dealers, but does it really cost 25-50$ for the call, and paper work? 0 -
Call cost of business and time .. And maybe knowing that , the Mr. Internet buy it whether its a good price or not will decide to buy it from me next time .. 0 -

The State Department Of Public Safety charges me 25.00 per NCIS check. I don't charge the customer more than that.0 -

Around here it doesn't cost me a penny and only about 5 min. of my time, if that. BUT, it is a specialized service, that, at least for now, an individual has to use if that individual wants a transfer and his gun. Only dealers are able to perform this service so they can charge what they want to. The ones with competitive prices are the ones that will get used.
Does it really cost my childs pediatrician $200 to look at my kid for 5 mins. and tell me she's sick? Nope. BUT, if I want a prescription for some medicine that's what I have to pay. It's a service that only they provide.
By the way, I only charge $10 per transfer. My take is it's simply free money and advertisement. Once they are here, then I can sell them something else.

I was paying 10 bucks to my FFL but then a jerk on another forum whose name I will not mention had a giveaway which he said I won then when I sent a copy of my dealers FFL this jerk never sent it. My FFL was mad because he sent a copy of his FFL and never got the gun. He now wants to charge me 75 bucks ( In other words he does not want my business). I am looking into another guy but have not did it yet. 0 -
The dealer closest to me will not even do a transfer if he is able to get the same gun. This counts for used guns too. If he can get it new, then he won't do the transfer. If he can't get it, he charges $50.
THEREFORE, I drive a few extra miles to use a great guy that I found off of the GB FFL search. He charged me $20 (I paid him $30) the first time and then $10 from then on. I continue to give him a $10 tip, plus we always end up shooting the breeze for about an hour every time I go over there.0 -
Hey Handgun hunter, did they ever find out why your boat ( I think thats the appropriate term you submariners call it) lost communication? This was a couple of days ago. I know you're not on it any more just wondering if you heard any news. 0 -
My FFL dealer charged me $50.00 to use his FFL plus $30.00 to do the transfer. I won a 45. Hardballer from the auctions, the guy there said it would be cheaper to just buy from his store. I guess he was sending me a message to just buy from him, the punk[:(!]
I'm applying for my own dealers license as we speak, no more FFL dealers for me. They are making it just as hard to buy a gun as the politicians.0 -
My guy was charging $20 for what I buy off the net but, I also get a free cup of joe or cold brew. The last two guns I bought he charged me nothing. Probably because I get most all my ammo and related stuff from him. 0 -
Go back and talk to the owner. If he still wants to charge you $50, tell him he just lost a customer. 0 -

We are $25.00 with a store front trying to run a business.. I am willing to bet the $10 transfer guys are not regular store front dealers but part timers ..
Mine is a full 7 day a week large gun store and charges $10.00
He cleans up doing it.0 -
There seems to be a steady increase of the "FFL-Attitude" flu. I rarely visit gun shops anymore because of it. Unfortunately it is spreading to many online sellers also. A few years ago you could trust a sellers description of a gun's condition. Now many simply point out the good parts and ignore the bad. Then when you return a gun that they mis-described they get all huffy and won't communicate. Maybe I'll switch to collecting stamps. 0 -
I think there is a faction of the smug punk attitude from customers also who come into rub in your face that they want a gun transferred that they just bought on the internet that you could have sold themf or the same price but now they dont have to pay the tax.. I just had a gun buy a rifle for $899 on a online auction that I had for the same price but instead of having to pay the $72.00 sales tax if he bought it from me .. he only pays $25.00 Shiping charge then wants me to transfer it for nothing or $10.00 bucks ? Yea ok .... This is happening more and more and it gets us pretty frustrated boys .. 0 -
glabray missed my "turd gun" auction....obviously. 0
