There used to be a local gunshop here that had a 2'+ Iquana walking around on the counter tops. 0 -
They do make great pets in the shop. I have a gray and a flying squirrel, two iguana's, and a python in the shop. The kids just want to watch them so they aren't breaking things or running wild.

my cousin had 2 of them{not at the same time} rocky, and roxie, spastic little bast..., 1 od'ed got into the medicine cabinet ate every pill in there, the other he had for 4 years it got out and never came back, i think i may have been the only person that never got bit, i seen it bite him right through the thumb nail, and in deep 0 -
Not big enough to eat yet!![;)] Seriously though, I must have "animal lover" written on my forehead cause several years back stopped at McD's to eat for lunch and a coupla a tree trimmers gave me on 'bout that size. Raised him for quite awhile in a old rabbit hutch in the backyard.

My brother and I found three baby chipmunks that hadn't even opened their eyes yet. I was about 8. guess what we named the 3 chipmunks. We kept them a few weeks until they were full grown, then let them go. They're probably dead now. 0 -

Huggy Bear was pouncing on something in the yard this morning....my mother asked "what has he got?" I thought it may be a turtle or some kind of bug.....I told her "let me go save him from himself."
There he was....wet, shiverring and in a ball with his feet up in the air. I thought it was a rat or something. I got Larry out of bed (poor guy worked all nite and had just gotten to sleep.) He put it in a box for me and I took it to the store. Not far from the little guy was a dead brother or sister not far away. I don't plan on keeping it here at the house.....but my kids REALLY want to keep it.
I have WAY too much going on to keep it. I do plan on keeping it on the nites that the new "proud owner" can't keep it....like tonite. I have been told all kinds of things about these little critters today. I will try to keep you guys posted on how he is doing...

Those little reds are sly little buggers, one made me waste a whole magazine in my 10-22 and still got away. Was damn fun shooting at him thought .
They do taste good only problem is ya need about 3 of them for a decent meal and the cleaning involved is hardly worth it. Pigs like them thought0 -

Don't feed him cow milk. Use kitten milk sold at pet stores and WallWorld. Better nutrition for him.Keep him off nuts till he's weened off the bottle. Their guts aren't able to digest nuts when they are small. 0 -

In my experience, tHe mother is probably looking for it.
It is illegal in most states to take and possess live animals from the wild. There are sound reasons for these laws.
Many times people picked up "orphan" fawns. We usually asked them to show us exactly where they got it. We then left them there for 24-48 hours before we considered them as abandoned. (unless the mother was obviously dead nearby).
You are doing no favor to the animal or yourself to keep it. Squirrels, racoons, etc are wild animals and should stay that way.
They tend to get semi-tame and then loose their natural fear of humans and then up biting someone or getting into other trouble and end up being put down anyway. Even if you have had the animal for a day or 2, the mother will often retrieve it if you leave it near the area where you found it.
If not, they often become food for natural predators. They need to eat also.
My suggestion is to do the right thing and put it back or call your local fish & game department and turn it over to them. That is what is best for the animal and nature.

I dealt with these issues probably a couple hundred times in my career and was just trying to give some sound advice that would not subject someone here to a potential criminal charge.
In my department, if a person called us about a wild animal baby that they picked up, we tried to take care of the animal by getting it to a licensed rehabber or see that it was humanely dispatched.
If we got a call from someone other than the person possessing it, we generally issued a ticket for a misdemeanor charge which could even revoke hunting privledges for up to 3 years or more. Charges related to unlawful possession sometimes require mandatory restitution and license revocation.
