Is Ruger Mini 14 Really That Bad ??
I have been reading so much on them and I cant decide. It seems like people have fun trashing the gun and others really like them. I want to buy one for the heck of it but some people make it out to be the worst rifle ever made.

What makes the mini-14 so innaccurate?
If it has a 1 in 10 twist is should be able the stabalize the 55-62 grain bullets. Is it the way it opperates and or extracts, or the # of grooves or the way the grooves are done in the barrel?
I think ruger would be able to 'copy' the twist/ groove pattern as bushmaster or armalite if the twist has something to do with it.

I always thought if you wanted a good accuracy rife you bought a heavy barrel bolt. 0 -

played with one a long time ago, if I remember right, the action is like a M14. I like that idea. too bad it isn't more accurate. 0 -

Match grade Semi auto AR15 rifles can X ring all day if the shooter is up to it.0 -

how accurate are they at 100 yards ? when i read reviews of them everyone gives very different measurements.
With the right scope..You could hit a quarter0 -
A gunsmith friend theorized Ruger's don't have enough support on the barrel. The barrel is out there without much of a stock. He suspected the Ruger becomes more inaccurate as the barrel heats up. 0 -
Semi auto weapons have only three purposes
Waste Ammo
Give a man that can't shoot in the first place a chance to bring home a "holey" trophy.
And of course the self defense tactic of filling the sky with lead....
And while you can pay big bucks and have yourself a dandy little nail driving semi auto unless you are in competition what's the point, if it is that accurate it was dead the first shot...
Bottom line is, (from an owner of several semi autos including the mini 14) buy an sks for $120 at a gun show and you'll get just as good of results as you would with anything available for less than 1500 klinkies (and maybe more)0 -
What he said... BUT, buy the Mini-14.

Tony Rumore of Tromix.com rebarreled a Mini-14 to....458 SOCOM.
Others have rebarreled the Mini-14 to.....300 whisper:
There's an application the Mini-14 would excel in.0
