    The old rigid, and milwaukee are the best. Of whats made today, makita. Not knocking dewalt, but they don't measure up to makita.

    What exactly is IN the drill that is causing this current drain? Just touching the contacts DOES NOTHING unless there is a *load* on the battery.

    Two wires going to nowhere is not a load.

    I have a Dewalt drill and electric torque wrench and both are made in China, enough said.

    Have a Dewalt sawzall, grinder, sander, hammer drill...love every one of them. The sawzall and drill have seen the most work and I've never had a single problem with them.

    ...Depends on how you are going to use it, "work" hard, or home, there is a difference; and a LOT of personal preferance for "features".

    ...I have had the best luck in both applications w/a Makita. Batts & chargers are reasonable and readily available.

    ...DeWalt along w/many other manf. have changed (lessened) the quality of their tools, nothing new. Sold almost everything DeWalt I owned, better products at a better price available IMO.

    ...Makita is lite-weight too, compared to many others, and have been in the quality "cordless" business as long or longer than anyone else...[;)]
