Not sure how big your community is but look into a market research company. If you are articulate they will hire and train you at 18. Also check into Non Destructive Testing companies. Some of them like to train people from the ground up. Good luck and make sure you are happy with what ever you choose. 0 -

I hire people for my business, and frankly, experience counts. Dependibility counts. Honor counts.
I hired a law clerk who was an academic all star. He was PETRIFIED to get out of the car and get gas at a station one block from the Courthouse.
I hired a law clerk who was competent, and was willing to get the job done. NO CONTEST on who was the better employee.
Also, remember, you NEED recommendations, not just from mom and dad, but from employers and clients. Do a good job, ask for a written letter (even offer to write it for them, if necessary). That WILL make a difference in the next job.0 -

There is truth in that. In a union shop, work ethic, knowledge, and desire means very little especially when the department is supervised by a lazy SOB in management who doesn't want his day complicated by doing work in his department. Basically, the department is not managed. The system is management on autopilot.
It can take years to move up and out of the department where seniority means less and ability means more. Ironically, this can only be done by having the personal discipline to maintaining a good work ethic in those times when it isn't a job requirement. Others will notice.0 -
