Well.... its not that the pay is all that horrible should be around $6.50 to $7 ......
Should I even bother dressing up for this? I was just going to wear one of my better shirts, lol. A good pair of pants and a good shirt. think thats enough for a place like Mc Nasties.0 -
I worked at McDonalds back when I was 16. Not a terrible place to be, but if you want to get ahead in the interview, tell them you're eventually interested in management. Doesn't matter if that's the truth or not, it just looks good. 0 -

I would agree.
I started out almost like jiffy lube. I started working in gas stations (we called them service stations because thats what they were back when you still got full service). Got into doing oil changes, tires, tune-ups, and much more.
I started at the age of 13 and by 16 was certified in many aspects of auto repair. At 18 I went into working on big truck at a Peterbuilt dealership and again had to start on the bottom working the lube pit doing oil changes and such on the trucks. Eventually worked up there as well.
At 21 I desided to hang up the wrenches and started driving big trucks. Did that untill I got hurt 3 years ago.
I pesonally would say Mc Barfs would be a last resort unless you are still in school and then it would be fine.0 -

I didn't have much $$$ growing up so the money I earned starting at age 12 as a caddy at a country club went into savings. I paid for my own braces and bought my own clothes among other necessities. I didn't have a car until I was 21 so I picked up jobs that were within walking or bicycle distance. I went from working on the golf course to working at McDonalds (which actually paid more) to working for a landscaper who had year-round work. If we weren't mowing lawns, planting bushes, laying sod or doing other landscaping type work, there was snow removal in the winter when I didn't have school. It kept me outdoors and paid $5/hr which was good in the early 90's. Don't frown at McDonalds. Sometimes that's all you have until you can find something better. I got a $500 McDonalds scholarship that I applied to the purchase of my first computer for college. Ask your manager if they still have the $500 McDonalds scholarship. Considering the depressed area where I worked, my academics and educational aspirations were head-and-shoulders above most people that I worked with. Nobody paid attention to the fliers on the bulletin board and my manager didn't even realize he had posted information about the scholarship which was apparently missing when I asked about it. Keep your eyes open and ask questions. I don't think I had any competition for that $500. It was practically a gimme.
My parents rewarded the fact that I noticed something that the manager lost track of and didn't even remember by matching the $500. Combined, all of the "free money" paid for 2/3 of my first computer.0 -

2 interviews for McDonalds? Must be a nice area. In the DC area they'll hire you over the phone. The worse you speak English the more chance you'll end up at the drive-through.

I never had much of summer jobs in high school that PAID. I worked one summer detasseling corn. The next summer, I quit after one day. The rest of the time, I helped dad on the farm. Rarely got paid for anything. 0 -

if you don't want to work in food service, try autozone or advance auto, they are always hiring even if you don't know alot about cars. i have an interview at the zone on tuesday next week. since i'm a former zoner and manager for them i should be a shoe-in. 0 -
Second interview? Around here they are so desperate for warm bodies that the manager might just drag you in off the street and put you behind the fryer! Since there seems to be no other work in your area it appears that they can be selective in hiring so when you go to the next interview wear nice clothes, have you hair cut and be sure to shave. Also be prepared to go to work NOW. B-S-ing about rising up the ladder to management is always a good line and may give you an edge over the other 99% of the kids who just want to earn a few bucks for a car or because their old man told them to get the hell off their asses, out of the house and get a job! Consider every intereview to be of benefit and always try to leave the interviewers with a good impression of yourself. When I interview someone I am looking for a person who feels confident in himself and his abilities and in a job like McDonalds it is a good idea to suggest that you like people, get along well working as part of a group (team) and if you have any sort of customer service skills at all, mention them. 0 -

when i was in high school a friend of mine got a job at mcdonalds. one day these two popular girls started making fun of him because he worked there. he went on to become a very succesful lawyer. every job will teach you something important if you are willing to learn and open minded. take the job and do your best. be proud of yourself and put in honest work. trust me when i say it will benifit you in the future. 0 -

And don't ignore the military (or ROTC in college) after you graduate.
The Navy pretty much paid for SonDave's Bachelors degree, and Master's progtam.

take that job, while you're working there, look for another job. because when you apply for a job, your chances are always better if you're currently working.
