    And all of that is exactly why the Fed. is legal, especially that last part.


    Myth #2: The Federal Reserve Act is unconstitutional. The Constitution does not give Congress the power to create a central bank.

    Reality: Federal and Supreme Court rulings have found the Federal Reserve to be constitutional, under the "necessary and proper" clause of the U.S. Constitution (Article I, Section 8, clause 19).

    Myth #3: The Federal Reserve is a privately owned bank that profits at taxpayer expense.

    Reality: The member banks in each district privately own each of the 12 Federal Reserve banks. However, the government-appointed Board of Governors controls these banks. Also, the Federal Reserve System rebates almost all of its profits to the Treasury each year, actually REDUCING the taxpayer burden.

    I never said the Federal Reserve was illegal. I said that theyre ruining the economy by raising inflation (printing money) at an alarming rate.

    My concern is the statement that Ron Paul will abolish the Fed. That is not per se a good idea, has basically been done in the past, and normally results in a financial crisis. That's a genuine cutting off of the nose situation.

    The thing about it is...if you think it bad that Congress farms out financial affairs...one should be completely TERRIFIED at the thought of Congress taking it back over...

    I have a theory that Soros is using his billions to buy up all the ammo and raw materials in order to force the price of ammo so high that we gun people cannot afford to shoot our guns anymore.[8D]

    In my case, I my hoarding ways finally paid off for me. I have a good stock of various centerfire ammo (rifle and handgun) although too much is never enough. In addition I have switched over my rifle and handgun shooting to plain old .22's. And I fear even the price of .22's will soon jump to 5 cent a round or more so I stocked up on a life time supply at about 2 cents per round.

    For once, we are in agreement. If Congress has direct control, without any buffer system between them and the public, the political pressure applied to their decisions would likely result in policy implementation that had no connection to economic reality at all.

    We see people screaming about the lowering of the value of the dollar right now; with no understanding at all of the role it plays in the effort to balance the trade deficit. If the Fed was subject to direct political pressure, there most certainly would be catastrophic decision making done in the name of doing what the public wants done, regardless of sensibility. The public, and many congressmen, just don't understand the process enough to make the decisions, and that's why you give the job to the professionals. It's no different than using a Doctor instead of some of the quacks out there.

    The proof can easily be seen in how many people rushed to take on sub prime loans, and then blamed the banking industry for their failure. It was a foolish move, but people who don't really understand money do some really ignorant things regarding its use, even though with the best of intentions.

    You did realize that the Fed is a private bank that loans money (which they print out of thin air for the price of paper and ink, with nothing to back it up) to our federal government at full face value then charges interest on its pay back, right?
