If I see one unchaperoned, I will kill it. It has no business around kids in this neighborhood by itself, and I will NOT wait for it to prove it's aggresiveness. I have owned a rottweiller that was 2x the size of any pitbull,..and he was a teddy bear. He stopped sleeping at my feet and started sleeping under the crib the of the newborn. Rotty's are perfect german breeding,......pitt bulls are targets of opertunity. They are inbred in most areas of the country (thank their upstanding owners) and have been known to "snap" at some point during their life. My kids won't ever have to worry about that,...fortunately. I have been around a lot of them,...and they are just bombs waiting to go off. You can see it in their eyes,...if you have looked.

I've had many different breeds of dogs through the year, and no one was any more dangerous than another. Raised Great Danes for several years, and any i raised from pups were gentle giants. Some i bought as adults were meaner than snakes. Same with some hounds i've had. I had a Large Bluetick hound stray in here that was fine with me and the family, but if he could catch a stranger unaware..watch out - he'd take a bite outta your arse in a heatbeat. I've had em all and breed means absolutely nothing.

I'm not so sure the breed should be exterminated, but I do see what Zulu is saying. I personally will never own a pitbull because I plan on having kids in the future and I don't want one around them. With animals you must remember that instinct is instinct, no matter how nice the dog is. I would prefer something like a beagle personally because they are very friendly and still have a lot of spunk and fight in them. Just my feelings on the issue though and to each his own I guess.

    Jon

My neighbor had a beagle and that thing was vicious! It's the owner not the dog.

Maybe between the two of us, we can cause a drop in the population...
I personally dont care for any large breed dogs around small children. The risk is just too much. I dont care how well you think you know an animal its still an animal and unpredictable...And it only takes that one time that you thought would never happen... I would'nt want to have to live with that.

I did have a german shepherd try to rip my throat out. 1/2" higher, its fang wouldn't have bounced off my collarbone and I would have been dead. I still got the scar, wanna see it?

I have been a hairs breadth away from getting my throat ripped out by a psycho 120 lb. rottweiler. that's what it wanted to do, it just decided not to.

I don't hate german shepherds and rottweilers because of that. in fact, I like german shepherds and I love rottweilers, they're like big teddy bears.

if I can do it, you can too. you don't have to kill them all. they don't deserve it. I'm sure the same goes for pit bulls.

    What a load of bababooey!!
    I cant believe I am reading"Its a breed thing"
You are on a gun forum. Try and relate the two for a second...
"Those S&W's they are just a company that makes guns that kill people!"
The only dog I was ever bit by was a mutt My friend owned when I was 12..

Here are 3 KILLER dogs that never hurt anything!!!!!

What are pits bred to do??????? I can control an S&W. I can predict how an S&W will react. I can even control an S&W.. I cant do that with a pit bull....Two different things entirely...

  • 204targetman
Why did I say I could control and s&w twice????? I must have very good gun control.....

  • blkshrt
    Oh,Your god now?
    You May control your S&W.
But you do not control the other man's S&W.

If you cant control a Pitbull than you cant control any dog. They are no different what so ever from any other breed of dog. What are Pitbulls bred for??Huh?They are bred for the same reasons as all other dogs. Some people breed them to fight but THATS A SMALL PORTION OF PITBULL OWNERS.I have seen Rottweilers bred to fight, hell even Boston Terriers were originally bred to fight but I guess you couldnt control one of those either.REdiculous logic here that a breed is bad because of how SOME people choose to treat them.

My bad....I'm going rabbit hunting with a guy this fall who has pits instead of beagles...They do have many uses.[:D] I really just dont care for the breed. But as long as they are kept away from children and kept were children cant get to them its no problem. I just cant take hearing how another child was mauled by one. Its just such a waste.

204- If god forbid any of my dogs turned I would be the first to kill them. As far as having other uses goes-All my dog needs to do is think I'm the best person in the world and love on me. When my ex and I split the only thing I hated was watching my dog go!!!!(first pic) I hate but can understand some of this hatred for the breed. Also remember the media does like to pick and choose stories..Take an honest poll of who has been bit by a dog just of GB's and see what the breed is? It would be interesting.
Can the mods set one up and make it sticky?

We discuss in these forums 24-7 about the ways and means we take to protect ourselves, our family and our property. A family pet (dog, primarily) is exactly the same. He's part of the family and he will use any way he can to protect the same whether it's barking, biting or fighting. He uses his judgment and reasoning to the best of his mentality and ability---same as you. He's not human and he may make the wrong decision---in your opinion----but, it was his decision and he made it (right or wrong). So why is he judged guilty for something he thought was correct?

Had a German Sheppard (Kojak) several years ago when both boys were little. The youngest was only 2. Kojak would not let him get out of his sight. I've seen Chris (youngest son) jump on Kojak, fall on Kojak, open Kojak's jaws with his hands and stick his face inside Kojak's mouth. Not once did this dog ever make any move to harm Chris. But, a stranger walk up toward Chris and that dog immediately became extremely guarded. You knew not to come any closer. Kojak was not taught to protect
but, Chris was part of his family and no one was gonna touch him.

I know blkshrt. There not all bad. I'm just saying I personally dont trust em. But as you can tell i'm also not a dog person. I also have kids and would not trust one around them for any amount of money. Some people like em and some dont. I'm on the dont side.....

They are cute little pooches of Swwbo and Punchie. I love those dogs and normally don't like any dog. But I like their owners too, so it must be the owners and not the dogs.

I don't trust them either,..too many stories of them just "snapping" one day. Plenty of those stories right here in my own town.

My rotty was equally as protective and docile while the kids climbed on him,..but strangers didn't get too close. However, he simply stood his ground and made his presence known, he never charged anyone. As long as you kept your distance, he kept his,...I have not had this experience with other breeds,..but then the owners have 90% blame.

The MAJORITY of pitt bulls in this country, and sad to say, unless from a REPUTABLE breeder, are inbred at some point down the line. They were bred to fight,..and making them a little "crazy" pays off. We have had many cases around here where they are kept/raised in the woods with no contact. They receive raw meat and water. Some cases even show where they are fed gunpowder in their food. Gunpowder makes a dog quite mean and uninhibited.

Local Deputy here told me the drug dealers cut the vocal cords of Pitbulls so they can't make any sound when they slip up and bite the Deputies.

The UPS guy that just dropped off a package here said that last year he was attacked by a pitbull while making a delivery, and he missed work for 4 months because of it, and the resulting surgeries to his left knee that followed.

Just one more example of why this breed should be exterminated.

When I was a little boy I was on a field trip and got seperated from the chaperone along with a few other students. We were at the Field Museum in Chicago and were waiting in line when a teenage group of african americans started pinching our backs to the point where some of us were getting teary eyed and asking for help to the other people waiting in line with us, they did nothing. That night when I got home I showed my parents all of the bruises on my back and to this day have never seen my father look as angry. Obviously this group of thugs were a product of there environment, I mean not every african american I have met has pinched my back. However, following your logic, you would probably think that all african americans should have there fingers removed. Unless I am misunderstanding your intentions...........

A Chihuahua can be as dangerous as any of the larger breeds, it's just a really just a matter of whether it's thrown over or underhanded.

JustC, using your earlier post logic, would it be OK to shoot somebodys Rott on sight just because it is big and used by many as a guard/attack dog ?
