    I don't have a TV.

I used to be self-righteous and smug about that but I got over it. I get as much passive entertainment on the Web as any couch potato does on the TV.

But I don't see the cost of a TV justifying the amount of entertainment it would bring me. Otherwise put: given that I spend what I do on the internet, I just don't see a need for more media. Or yet again: there is no media gap in my life.

Should I beat this horse some more, or leave it at that?

(BTW: I do like the TV when I visit relatives.)

I watch news mostly. I like A&E, and discorvery. 48 hours, swat, and deadliest catch. Various others when those shows aren't on. Dirtest jobs is pretty good also, I like the host he cracks me up.

I actually don't watch much tv anymore. When I do it's usually something on the history channel, autoracing, or the occasionaly hunting show(Ted Nugent or Dangerous Game).

the Stargates (SG-1 and Atlantis) and the History Channel for new programs, I just think most everything else that is new is crap.

Sometimes I watch reruns of various Star Trek series on Spike or Seinfeld reruns.

I watch Scrubs, Cops, CSI, Orange Cty Chopper, Car Shows, Speed Channel, Hunting Shows, Discovery, Fox News and some of the local stuff.

I hate all the stupid commercials that they have anymore, I find it so darn hard to keep my attention on the program with the constant intruptions!!

I have a TV in every room, one in the attic and the garage.

Yeah, agree with you there. Very rarely do you ever see a good commercial. There's way too many and there's such a lack of creativity, it's almost like an insult to our inteligence.

I have to admit, the food commercials do work on you from time to time if you're hungry.

I'm still waiting for them to allow us to customize the programming we get. We pay 56 bucks a month for the most basic dish package and a handful of HD channels. Most of it's mindless television and not all that entertaining for anybody with an IQ over 50.

I just want to customize what we get like a cell phone plan. Why don't we have the right to do this? To get a couple more channels that we'd like, we'd be spending upwards of 80-90 dollars a month.

And I can't get myself to buy the new HD package and be gouged harder for something that should be included standard by now.

NCIS, The Unit, Criminal Minds, Murder Recipes, a lot of Discovery, Military, and History channels.

We have had DVR (TiVo) since December, and I now record everything before I watch it. Makes the commercials useless as a vehicle for advertisers to get my attention, plus pause, rewind, and freeze frame. It also reduces my invested time in each program, up to 20/30 percent. It lets me record 2 different shows on different channels, while watching a third.

This actually does what VCRs were supposed to.

It cost me nothing for the hardware through Direct TV, and $5 a month for the service.

I guess that you can tell that I like it !!
