Work boot recommendations???
I need a hardcore work boot with phenominal soles. I am probably the hardest person you've met on a pair of shoes/boots. I also have a very bad back/knees/hips and if I don't have a top notch boot, I'm in a lot of pain. As far as hiking boots go, I am a BIG fan of Lowa. They have to be the most comfortable boot I've ever worn...as a matter of fact, your foot feels better inside the boot than out of it. Unfortuantely, they are not as durable as I need for a work boot and at over $200 a pair, I cannot afford a pair that won't hold up. I need a boot that is engineered to fit and provide support/comfort where needed...but that will last. Any recommendations? My ankles will not tollerate a mid ankle height boot. It either has to be a low (tennis shoe style) or a taller boot that goes above the ankle. Thanks![:)]

I have to add to mine....
We have some downright deadly, NASTY chemicals here at the plant. A well treated Red Wing just shruggs them off.0 -
Xtra Tuff if you can find them. 0 -
Since retiring from the Navy I have worked in the shipyard as an outside machinist. I have tried various brands of work boots, from Walmart Brahmas ... to Sears Diehards .... Catapillar ... all with unsatisfactory results ... the brahmas wore out too quick, the diehards did the same and, like the "cat's hurt my feet. Finally, about a year ago, I took the advice of a fellow worker and went to a "Redwing store". I got a pair and have been very pleased with them. Also, they are made in the USA (another big plus inmho)
Buy American ! The job you save, might be your own !0 -
I personally prefer and have had good luck with Wolverine work boots. They have worn very well and they fit my feet good too. The biggest thing is to make sure that your feet are comfortable in the boot. Get something that's not comfortable and you will be walking slightly different then normal and wear them out faster. Also, from my experiences, don't bother with the REALLY cheap boots unless thats all you can afford at the time. IMO, it's not worth saving a few dollars and having to put up with aching feet all the time. After all, your feet are pretty important[;)].
