    [8D] Yo meunke, please don't tink bad of my answeres, you must remember that most of these FORUM posts are made "off the cuff" and unless one is really called to task on a subject, they're just emotion and thats all--

    There still is a need to hunt the big cats in some areas. That the local economy should get a boost from the fees paid by hunters is a bonus.
    Also, for information purposes, the meat of the cats (and most game animals in Africa) is eaten by the local tribes.

    That night a front came through, the temps dropped and the snakes were gone.

    BTW, I am also not a fan of hunting big cats for trophy nowadays. If killing them in the course of defense or protection of self and property, I have no qualms about it.

    Expect that most of you who are so adverse to the killing of "big cats" never have been threatened by one (either directly you, some other person, or your livestock, etc.) The Texas Dept of Wildlife released several mountain lions in the Eastern panhandle a few years back. There was no media coverage of it, they kept it very quiet. The purpose was to reduce the deer population. While it is still seldom that one is seen, they are around. Three (that I know about) have been noted in Deaf Smith County (primarily farmland) in 2007.

    Two, a female & her cub, ran the cattle over a 5 wire fence on three different occasions about a month ago. They are definitely in danger if they are spotted around there again.
