...The acetominephen..(sp) ....Tylenol...in Vicodin will ruin the liver also. I asked the doc to switch me from 5mg/600mg to 7.5mg/300mg. It's easier on the liver. I can't take ibuprofen because of liver issues and can't take aspirin, as I about bled to death from ulcers years ago. That pretty much leaves narcotics. So, can't drive a truck or continue flying lessons either. Pain sucks.

Ibuprofin will decrease the inflamation and allow a bulging disc to return (if thats the problem). Take it and Ice your back off and on for 2 days. You may be able to fix it yourself. Long term use should be monitored.

Several years ago I had the same problem with my back. The osteopath had me on percocet and rest (yeah, right! I still had to work for a living). After three months of this I saw a different doc and he recommended "Lodine" (basically a high speed anti-inflammatory). I took it before bed the first night and was better in the morning.

I know it sounds like BS but it worked that fast and I have had only occasional flare-ups since. Worst case, it does not work and you are still in the same place. Ask the doc about it!

    More vicodin!!!

...If you're gonna do that, move on to 80mg Oxycontin. (cut in half). Easier on the liver, and it'll get your motor runnin'....... I gare-un-tee. Least, that's what I hear.....[;)]

Tomahawk,......is that the procedure where they inject the disc with HLA?
Curious, as I have heard about it myself.
    Assuming I am correct.
Anything that does not involve surgery, I am interested in also.

This goes back awhile, but I started having lower back problems that got worse over time, much like you. Went to my family doctor and told him I couldn't stand the pain when I was driving. I was stripped down to my shorts for the exam. He looked at my levis hanging on the wall and asked me how long I had been wearing my wallet in my right rear pocket. I told him "for years". He told me not to wear my wallet there and gave me some simple exercises to do. Over time it cleared up and didn't ever bother me again. This is just MY experience. But at any rate you should be able to make a workmans comp claim and not lose wages for your time off. I feel your pain. Good Luck![:)]

no marc.. this procedure is done in a psysical therapy or chiropractors office that has this machine. you lay on it and they strap you down , the machine then moves very slowly millimeter by millimeter and stretches and decompresses your spine. doesn't hurt at all but youll be able to feel when that disc goes back, feels like a rubber band boinged inside you. two or three treatments at about 150.00 a pop and most are like new remember VAX-D when callilg around to find one[;)][:D]

in the construction field, lifting while turning, truck drivers, operators those that require long periods sitting are extreemly suseptable tho L5-S1 siatic injury, the pain will be in your buttock, down your leg into your foot and toes if left go. to check and see if its indeed sciatica, lay flat on your back and have someone lift your leg while you hold it straight. if you cannot or want to kill them its positive[:D]

Been there done that and am still there but functioning at reduced level.
Best hope for immediate relief is a steroid injection done
under fluoroscopy in a hospital or outpatient clinic. Relief can be immediate. See a back man, get evaluated and get an MRI. He will recommend the shot or shots as a first option.
Doctors are wary about personal injury cases and may not want to treat you and appear in court.
Pills that worked best on my worst pain were Empirin Codeine 7 and
best non prescription pill was Excedrin. At best the pills cut pain in half. Constant use of pills put me in the ER with a major bleed.
With back injuries, being overweight is your worst enemy.
Lifting loads in front of you, away from your body has to be avoided.
Driving is easiest with seat tilted back as far as possible with a small cushion supporting the lower back.
Sounds like a Disability or Workman's Comp case.

[xx(]BEEN THERE AND DONE THAT, was on the 800 ibu for years and got a 3 GI bleeds from it cant take anything now but lortabs, had the back surgery (it didnt work)now they want to cut some more (i dont think so)been dealing with this for 15 yrs now. wont hurt to file with SSI NOW .they will turn you down a few times but if you win the claim they pay back to the date claim filed, even if you do get back on your feet it cat hurt to file it (you never know how long a back will hurt)[8D] also if you do get laid off for a long time and you file a suit on some co watch for the PI'S (you file they will come,)some are slick most r not. my .02

[:0]You pull the trigger and it fires. Looking at it won't fire it. Smelling it won't fire it. Laughing at it won't fire it. Hating it won't fire it. Banning it won't fire it. Only pulling the trigger will fire it.
