If you are interested in a place like that I would really suggest Guam. You're looking at some pretty good time in the air to get there, but once you do, it is 50 times the place that Hawaii is currently. Everyone speaks english, the U.S. dollar is used, and it is not the trap that hawaii is, with at least equal or more beauty. I have spent a ton of time there, and my hotel of choice is the Hyatt. There is pretty much one little several mile long strip of hotels, and shopping, a hardrock cafe, and all that stuff, but there's also bars in different parts of the island all near the strip. There is a very heavy Japanese presence there, the locals are all friendly, but there are some of the scummy things you may want to know about like lots of strip clubs, and some of the island is very dumpy looking. Ask Red223, he used to live there or maybe he still does. I've probably been there a dozen times and if it is a short break like a week or less including travel, you would really enjoy it. Two weeks you might run out of things to do.

One unique feature is the hotel is designed so that there are no rooms facing the island, in other words every room has a view of the water.
