Done with wallyworld for good
For couple of months now WalMart has been converting your check to an electronic transaction then handing your check back to you a have you sign the trans action ship now I find that this process cost me $1.50 per check thru my bank 5th/3rd. Anyway I tell Walmart Friday just how much I like this and they tell me that very soon in the future Walmart will have there own bank in-store and I should be able to avoid these fees...
Well I have news for Wallyworld and 5th/3rd I can think of easier ways to avoid these fees than dealing with either of them!!!!

Heard on the news one time that one out of every 100 people work for Walmart in this country. I believe it. I know 4 people personally who work for Walmart stores in different towns. So they employ a lot of people but the jobs suck!! The benefits suck.
I hate Walmart because of how they fight the unions from coming in and how they are the poster child for corporate greed. Walmart management just seems like a bunch of greedy ba$turds to me. The people making the clothes in third world countries are the ones really losing out.
I hate Walmart for their new no firearms policy. But, again, they probably caved because of their greed and surely wouldn't want to lose any of that money in a lawsuit over a gun that was sold at their store.
We still shop there once a month. A hundred and fifty bucks buys a lot of groceries there and not everything they sell is junk. They carry a lot of normal major brands.
Example: Just went shopping at our local grocery store tonight. Wanted to pick up a 12 pack of that Propel by Gatorade (flavored water with vitamins). Just bought a 12 pack of it for 5.56 at Walmart a couple weeks ago. Local store (which has very good business and a very wealthy owner) want 8.27 for the exact same 12 pack. A can of Pringles at Walmart is .99. Local store, almost 2 bucks. It all adds up when you're buying a large amount of stuff.
I still shop locally but I don't do my major shopping trips here. I hate Walmart but it really doesn't make a damn bit of difference whether I shop there every day or never go back again. If it's to my advantage to go there once in a while, I may as well.0 -

sounds like you just got it out for wal mart
Ol' Roy is a walmart brand it is named after walton's personal favorite dog Roy read the bag can whatever!!!0 -
The things I buy are usually NOT designer....but if I have to go that route to not buy garbage I will. My last purchase from Wal Mart was bathroom towels....about a year ago. Every one of them are gun rags now....torn to shreds here in a pile in my gun room/office.
Wal Mart isn't giving anyone what they want...unless they just don't know any better.
On those dinky size towels....I spent $7 each....thinking it was a "deal." Within two months I started thinking about where I was going to go buy replacement towels as I was pulling the long nest of threads off of the folded towels in the bathroom.
TJ max....I got Egyptian cotton HUGE towels for $12 each that have yet to have one thread to pull off of any of them. My purses are usually my "weakness" but I can tell you one thing....my $300 brown leather Coach bag feels like butter...never has had one thread come loose....and as time goes by it actually looks better.
My mother (who is a shop-a-holic) buys those nasty little "deals" of a purse from Wal Mart...and gives them to my daughters when she is through with them...and we put them in the Salvation Army donation boxes.
Ther real problem with Wal Mart is people don't buy what they need....they buy WHATEVER is plopped down in front of them because it is a "deal".....
going to buy pants....end up with four lamps, dog collars, ant poison, folding chairs and lima beans. We are SO smart aren't we??0 -
Geez. I write three checks a month, and that's only because they don't take credit cards or EFTs. 0 -
Stop writing checks; use your Fifth Third check/ATM card (just make sure its processed as a credit card, not a debit card). Problem solved. 0 -
Those Credit card/ATM Cards get charged a process fee at WALLYWORLD and I don't want a Walmart bank account. This really irks me also and has for a couple of months.
I like Target more and more. Besides, there is less of a crowd there.0 -
Target is owned by a French corporation![8D] 0 -
A lot of people here Bad Mouth Wallyworld, Why is it one of the most successful retailers in the USA???? I live in a town of 12,000 people and before wall mart our little mom and pop stores were rapine us, I bought a Rifle from wallmart and got it for $137.00 less than our little mom and pop gun store. and no it was not a second, was a Ruger #1 in 375H&H. I like Walmart. Remember you don't have to shop their, I hope you don't I hate crowds 0 -
On banks: change your type of account. Everyone hates being stuck behind the old....er.....seasoned citizen who writes out a check. I only use checks when I can't pay over the internet or by card, maybe 2-3 a month, like for my rent.
Second: I agree that I would rather pay a premium for quality than buy junk. That doesn't nix wal mart however. A FRAM oil filter is a FRAM oil filter wherever you get it, and if Wal mart sells it for $.50 cheaper than the auto parts store, well I'll get it at wal mart. Same for ammo- a box of Thunderbolt .22s may be junk from anyone, but at wal mart they're cheaper. And fun if you just want to plink. Would I buy wal mart's $7.50 tennis shoes? No, they're junk. Would I buy a pair of Dickies work boots there, $5 cheaper than at the shoe store? You betcha!
Same on food; I won't buy cheap chicom junk, but if Wal mart sells a 2 liter of Pepsi for $1.25 and the grocery store charges $1.56......uhm, where do YOU think I'm getting it?0 -
Locust Fork -
Your attitude about purchasing is very German.
I have a pair of Wellingtons that I bought in Munich 30 years ago, that I still wear every day. I have no idea how many times I've had new soles and heels on them, but the leather - though beaten up - is still fine.

Are you sure you aren't my wife??? Of course a Coach purse!!!
You are 100% right BTW [:D]
(Just like my wife!)0 -
I can buy good leather handbags for a lot less than 100...but Coach?....I dont need a designer name to get good leather...I paid all of 29 bucks for the one I have now...that was bout 7 years ago, genuine leather, nice and soft, no tears or stitching coming loose...zippers all work great, and it has about a gadzillion (according to classic) compartments
A lot of ppl dont want expensive, or rather cant afford it...so Walmart fills the need for inexpensive items...I have bought very good stuff at Walmart and crap as well, just as I have bought very good stuff at high end stores, and bought crap there as well...
I have had a coach handbag, also had a fossil handbag and a dooney &bourke....got rid of them all...they werent any better made than my 29 dollar one, and at least if I spill something on my purse now, I dont have a bird cause the thing cause 300 to 500 bucks...0 -
i hate walmart. everytime they open a new store in a small town it closes down all the mom and pop stores that have been there for years. plus they don't pay their people anything. most employees have to get on government programs for help, thus the taxpayers are really funding part of their salary, not to mention all the foriegn products 0 -
Boeing Aircraft manufacturing used to be the largest employer in the state of Washington, guess who is now............WAL-MART.. that is a sad state of affairs in this country 0 -
Most of the time I don't do the "shopping" for our home. I can't stand it. If I buy something I just see the money dribbling away.....toward something WORTH more than it costs I have no problem. Wal Mart NEVER sells anything worth more than it costs.
Also, the people who work at 99% of them wish they were somewhere else. You have interrupted their day by coming in there and spending $300 on a buggy full of junk. They don't help you to the car...help you find what you need...offer a discount for being a good customer. You are part of the "herd" they hope to migrate through the stalls....moooooo.
My Coach bag....from Target is about 25% of the cost....so deals are to be found!!! Also....the manager has discounted just about everything I buy because he knows me and gives me a discount. Great items....no herd mentality...and recognized for being a "repeat customer"....so I will spend my money there. My list of places that I like or can even stand to shop at are getting smaller and smaller. I guess so long as everyone will buy sub-par merchandise from unappreciative sellers we will continue to get this crammed down our throats as "what everyone wants."
The everyday items...you can get anywhere...I will pay 10% more to NOT deal with Wal Mart.
Church on Sunday is harder than sleeping in....
Throwing garbage out your car window is easier...
Letting a baby cry is easy....
Not visiting your family is easy....
Saving .10 on green beans is easy....
But if the teeny bit of money we save leads to more Wal Marts....lets quit being led to that troth like mindless pigs....and spend a little more to HAVE something worth having.0 -

Minimum wage for minimun work. Managers get paid much more. When you hire a dumb ass with no education, there is no reason to pay them more then minimum wage. They should have stayed in shcool. Just my two cents.0 -

walfart kills all of us mom and pop store guys with price, it is the bottom line. Dont tell me they havent drove several thousands of small businesses under by PRICE alone. There are very few people in this world who give a rats a** about service anymore. The small shops cant compete with their prices .We live in a disposable society now, buy it cheap , use it awhile then throw it out and go buy another.Where is 90% of the junk you buy in Walmart made ..yep you guessed it CHINA !!! Meanwhile our workers suffer here , jobs are cut or lost so our great manufacturers can send the work over to the Chinese and make things so much cheaper. I am willing to bet that any of you Walmart lovers are NOT in small business or in any kind of business of your own that has to go up against these scumbags. They are responsible for the DEATH of small town America and the very roots of this country . 0 -
Oneonta....a small town in the other direction of my home from the city of Birmingham was a pretty little town with a small "main street" with shop after shop going up both sides.
Wal Mart came....it took about ten years....but the cute little main street is bare. You can tell where each building was several types of businesses. Between the empty stores there is still an auto parts store....that if you examine it closely you can tell it WAS a pharmacy at one time (the high platform area in the back of the store and medical insignias painted on the back of the door.) I remember when someone at a gas station said to me..."I see you have Blount County tags. I'm with the city of Oneonta....and we're gettting a Wal Mart!" I remember thinking...why the heck do you look happy? but I actually said without really looking at the guy..."I bet the businesses out there REALLY appreciate that."
People are so stupid sometimes.
I guess people say to themselves...."I can save a dollar...so I shop there." Look what its doing. Is it worth the dollar?0 -
