A Doberman named Caleb, just put him down this past August from cancer, had him for 9 years. The most laid back and personable dog I'd ever seen.

Pure breed alley cat named Winky. I was in first grade, 1958, and one day I was called to the office and told I had "won" a cat. A secretary handed me a box in which was a little black kitten. I was told I could take my prize home and was allowed to walk home. My mom was not amused, but we kept the cat anyway. I'm sure at some point my mom and the school secretary had a quiet conversation about the cat contest.[:D]

Mostly German Shepard named "Pal". I was about 6 yrs old. He was 4 months. He was my pal and protector until I went off to college when I was 19 yrs old. After I left, they say he just quit eating and died a few weeks later. They didn't tell me until I came home for Christmas. [:(][:(] That was 60+ years ago...I've never forgotten Pal.

Don't remember which came first, the angora eabbit named angela, or the stray banded (nameless) pigeon that followed me around for most of a year. Then came the alchy neighbor's dog that preferred to hang with me. A half dobie, half airedale named major. Living in e. st. louis at the time he was a real good friend to have.[:)]

Springer Spaniel names Willy. Dad gave him to me as a 6 week old pup on my 16th birthday. He lived/loved to hunt pheasant. I buried him 16 years later with the love and respect he deserved.

My first was a Shepherd named Heinie. Then a Shepherd named Cookie. Then my favorite of all, my Doberman named Bocephus Duke. We just called him Bo. Lovingist dog I have ever known. Since then I've had Chinese Pugs and Jack Russels. Pugs are sweet. Jack Russels are hard headed. My next one will be another black and tan Doberman.
